No wings, no problem
« on: February 07, 2003, 10:50:05 PM »
This never happened to me before, usually when they snap, I die. But this time it was different. I knew it was a bad idea diving on that 109.

Lets start from beginning:
After getting 2 kills (Spit and F4) I noticed that one friendly was duking it out with 109 and P47 away from everyone else. Since I’m a good countryman I decided to help. Hell, I’m faster, have more alt and it seems they didn’t see me. :D That seems like a good idea. Giving friendly a courtesy 6 call, I dive on P47 that was about to swap friendly. To make story short, I engaged 109, 109 starts rolling into the ground and I follow him. Ground was closer then I thought and when I pulled up, 2 important parts of my plane fell off.

The rest is self-explanatory (see pics). I landed with 2 kills, minus wings of my plane with a great thought to think about.  :D

I think the stang is easier to land with both tips missing than just one.

bah.  try landing your first ride in an arado in which you buzzed a furball for fun and ripped off both ailerons and wingtips.

did just that in a D-hog today.  it really is easier with both gone, but it's do-able with just one as well.

I actually managed to land a D-Hog with half the left wing missing... I could trim it out more or less. The landing was not exactly 'controlled' but I came to a stand still on the runway and didn't die. That still means 'you have landed succesfully' :D

Pulled off something similiar in a Ju-87.  Lost both both right and left wingtips and ailerons and had to use my rudders to turn my plane and successfully landed it.

Just as your landing, us other rooks were punished by GUERMAN's persistant whines of (and I quote) "I LANDED AT A ENEMY BASE HOW DO I GET OUT" .  After a half hour of this we can tell he is not listening at all (either too little to understand or someone who is crazy), he gets the ol' squelcharoo lol.
