What I saw was basically the the CV being used as a disposable(spell?) gun platform with no regard to save it. I get into the 5 inch gun all the time, but I will try to steer it out of harms way if there is no support. Being in the CV is good, it needs a captain. But to just bring a CV to it's death to get a few 5 inch gun kills seems crazy.
We took VH56 with a CV(by sneaking it in,then attacking vh under dar minutes b4 ltv's were in launching distance), then moved on with vehicles and captured 72 with the CV well offshore in support. We became outnumbered so we tried like madmen to get the CV out sea. They eventually sank it north of 56. But we didn't just circle it in the channel between 55 and 72.We did try to save it. to those who helped capture 72, it forced the bish to send pilots south, helping the cause up north, well done, and thnx for your help.
On the subject, alot of CV's getting sunk by shore batteries. Those should be top priority. I use this as an order of battle-vehicle hanger, shore batteries, de-ack.
BTW, A72's shore battery perched way up high overlooking channel.
P.S. Sorry for the whine.
