Strat.... What have we done.....
« on: October 07, 2001, 01:19:00 AM »
Ok  There are still many angles for those of us not completely conversant with the intricacies(sp?+)  Anyways whats changed with the the way we play?

No more pork their front line fields to reduce their fuel.  No more kill their nearby barracks. Hell no point in porking their nearby fields at all...  Hey!! why even pork the field we want to capture?!  (ermm thats another story from the riverbank)

The insta resupply..  U see an attack forming and heading to your field.  You up a goon with field supplies from a nearby base.  The attack occurs they just level the field and everything on it..  You fly over the field amidst heavy fire You push a supply crate or 2 out the door just before they take the wing off...

Well as soon as one of those crates hits the ground anywhere close to the field, its rebuilt magically!! Everything, ack, VH, FH, BH, dar, barracks u name it!!  I am not sure if the Town acks are rebuilt at the same time however.

I think the supply model is a great addition; however not perfect.  Supplies should be divided into categories.  Examples would be:  Building supplies, for hangars, barraks etc.  AA, for defenses and barracks.  Fuel, duh.  Ammo: duh.

I also think if it isn't already that the town be supplied along with the base.  If any bases capture was dependent on the local population I think the base would exert some control +)

With this supply model, what is the point of having factories?  Just for the times when noone wants to fly a supply run?
Any base that is cutoff from its supply depot should not be able to resupply any other bases.

Any factory that has been flattened should not be able to resupply its depot, therefore not able to resupply any bases attached to that depot.

oh yeah reward supply runs!!  even if it is just a couple of perks and have the pilot choose which category to score them as (fiter, buff etc)

Ok its late, i'm tired but i will continue with more thots later +)

Unfortunately, there is only two states for these field items, A. undamaged, B. Destroyed.

Perhaps it could be changed so that after the supplies are dropped, the field itmes would be rebuilt appearance wise, but still have a five minute time delay before they could actually be useful.

I.E. A re-supply goon drops and all AA emplacements are instantly re-generated. Altough the guns are there, they are unable to fire yet remain vonerable to attack. Then, after five minutes, they become active again (if not destoryed again) and can begin to fire.

Ideally, it would be cool to see ground crews run out to the supply boxes and then have to move to each field element to rebuild it. Then you could shoot at the ground crews to slow them down or stop them entirely.

I love re-supplies, but instant rebuild needs to be adjusted.

Wing up, Get kills, Be happy!

Agree insta respawn with one drop is really strange.  I was participating in deacking a field recently A24 , had just killed the last ack and was about to go into vulch, err, CAP mode when bang, all ack reappeared and killed everybody.  Had only been down for 15 seconds.  Apparantly someone spawned an m3 from 4 and dumped supplies?

Why not instead of instant respawn do this:

Hanger is destroyed - time to rebuild 15mins

With supply drop - time to rebuild 10mins

Next drop - time to rebuild 5 mins

Next drop - no effect

and possibly have a supply shed or bunker which can be killed on the field to prevent loading of supplies.

This way, the supply drop does have an effect, but not one that nullify's all the hard work put in by an attack force in a split second.
