Pack Saddam with money and he'll be welcome in Switzerland. The same way that narco-dollars (sp?) are welcome there.

Nice how you seemlessly worked in the "jap".

You must be proud.

Raclette is one of my fav Swiss dishes...basically cheese and potatoes.

...and as for watches, I love my Rolex.

It may be hard to imagine for a citizen of a country who's political direction changes every 2 to 4 years and history (if such pitifully short term could be called so) gets rewritten every few years according to the recent Politically Correct philosophy. That is true nevertheless.

Swiss would have fought nazis and they would have fought allies or any other trespasser in both world wars. They screwed up by refusing to let in refuge jews - which they admit - but so refused US, England and other countries. There is such thing as culture and historical heritage and swiss is a prime example of that.
They are not angels and have as much crookery and sinfull behavior as any other country but  when the neutrality was conceived centuries ago, banking gains were not the top of their concerns.

Miko,

Please note that I did not refer to anything other than the last century. Try to stay focused here. If you want to dig I'm sure you can find something negative in even Mother Theresa.

Neutrality is just fine as long as you don't deal with the oposing sides.  They sat out the hostilities but raked in the funds from the conflict. Yep neutrality can be SO profitable. It was nice of them to sit out all the hubub, but then except for the banking and such, why would the Germans want to take it over? Do you think that hitler would have let them be if they had something he really wanted??? I don't think so.

swiss watches are so like last century, they even still have gears in them, over priced also, i have a japanese solid state digital diver watch that costs $19.95 and keeps perfect time.
i guess it depends if you want to know what time it is or just show off how much money you can spend on a watch.
you could almost buy a car for the price of a rolex
