bombers hanging a right...
« on: February 22, 2003, 06:12:07 AM »
Been having some troubles with trimming the B17 in the climb or in level flight. It seems to always want to veer to the right.I've calibrated in game and in windows to no avail. Any thoughts?

Check the trim wheels on your stick; be sure they are centered.  :)

No trim wheels, using the keyboard to trim. The ball stays centered, but the aircraft pulls to the right.

Check the wind drift next time and see if that is the cause. At certain altitudes it will really affect you.

Ive actually been having the same trouble.
My stik is a didgital one.
Wind layer having nothing to do with it. I think my stik could be bad. Even though there are no spikes in the stik setings axis windows.

The problem starts as soon as I roll. So I dont think its wind drift, unless the AC is supposed to pull to the right all the time to simulate this. The calibration window(s) show that the stick/ rudder are fine. And they work smooth as glass with all the fighter aircraft.

I'm assuming so. Are the engines independantly adjustable other than to turn them on and off? I know they are all running. I'll check to see if thats happening. Thanks

Heres what I found.

When I start engines, they all have full power except for #3 or #4. One of the needles on the guage for those 2 (cant figgure which since they both start and stop and appear to be running)stays at 0 unless i hit the "p" key. Then alls fine till it shuts down again. Its like one of them is feathered, and thats what puts me in a right orbit with #1 and #2 overpowering the weaker #3 and #4. Is this a bug? or one of those forehead slapping "DOH's" on my part?

BTW- this makes for very hard rollouts heavy...doable...but hard.

I have been doing some flight testing for an upcoming scenario and found the SBD pulled right on auto speed.  I noticed it after about 4 sectors.  It was off-line, I checked the settings and there is no wind set for any elevation.  The SBD is a single engine, so there should be no problem with multi-engines.

Nope, rolled a b26 and it worked slick as a stick. Only ones I'm having this problem with is the 4 engines. OMG! hope this is fixed before the arival of the Liberator!

EDIT- bj, tried that. same same. I tried selecting all it did it. I even tried selecting individually and still got the same. Al the engines appear to be running fine (props truning ect) but when I give it the gas, one of them on the right side stays dead.

I've seen the same thing with the b17 also.  IIRC, the manifold pressure on 2 of the engines was slightly below the other two.

I did the ctl e and could not affect the manifold and get all four engines the same.  They would all drop to zero at min throttle, but not all of them would go to max manifold.

Definitely caused a drift to the right.  Haven't tried it on the lancs yet tho.

Just tried the Lanc. Its definately #4 engine that has no throttle response. It starts and runs, but wont respond to throttle input.

Tried re-installing the game, re-mapping all controlls. Still does it. Is this a bug maybe?
