I read your original post Fridaddy, and you did edit out more than just spelling errors.  But whatever, I'm done.

Columbia Flyby

Grim,

Thank you for your thoughts. That is why I posted it as a 'proposed' flyby. I am seeking this feedback so we can all decide if we want to do it or not.

The Training arena might be a better way to go. I proposed the MA as it would seem to have more participants and presents more of a challenge to have this happen there. I have thought about those who do not know about the event and in turn dive in on the participants. I am not sure what to do about that other than shrug it off and re-up my plane.

I also did not think of the 98 who recently died. My apologies for that. It would seem that if we do one then we should do the other. If we do that then we must do one for anyone who has anything happen to them, even down to a speeding ticket. We will then be AH memorial sim. Your point is well founded. It may be best to forget the whole thing.

However, I will be there and I will be flying. If someone shoots me down, then I will applaud them for their points, re-up and continue my flight.

I would say that the SEA is the place for this. Pick a time that doesnt conflict with anything that goes on there

Yes, drop NASA a line and remind them that the damned Titanic at least had SOME lifeboats!

Ask them why they didn't bother to inspect the shuttle even though it was relatively easy to do.

Ask them why they never even discussed the possiblity of tile damage with the crew, but instead, did some base analysis, crossed their fingers and whistled past the graveyard. Complacency kills.

Ask NASA why they have absolutely no contingency plans for inflight damage. Ask why they haven't used DuPont's two-part ceramic repair material (quite literally troweled on the effected area like cement) designed for exactly this type of repair.

Write letters to your local newspapers, your Congressmen, write NASA directly.

I have published a piece in Newsday, asking those tough questions. NASA declined to respond, citing that the investigation was still under way. However, they know we are watching and will hold their feet to the fire.

If you really want to make a difference, write a letter, send an e-mail, make a phone call. Contribute to one of the several trusts set up to benefit the children of those who died. Do something of substance. Flybys are nice gestures, but all they can be are gestures. No one but those who participate will know about it. Instead, do something that can really count.

If you really want to do a tribute to the Columbia crew SAC, go to Wal-Mart and buy a Estes Rocketry Starter Kit. The AH MA just isn’t conducive to this type of tribute, trust me. Get it and find local kids to turn onto amateur rocketry.

I spend every Sunday having the local kids chase Estes rockets around, and they just love it. It’s $19.95 for the starter kit, and I buy 4 paks of C6-7’s at $4.99 a 3 pack. I build the rockets, but they have to load the igniters, run through the safety checks, and do a countdown.

Like the movie “October Sky” they just have a blast, and learn “science” of all things.

If you really want to do a tribute to Columbia, make the effort to turn on some kids to what started it all. They are the future, and without getting into ATFE details, its future is in dire needs.

We could have a "multi-chess-piece" squad of 262's as "bouncers" for the event. Chasing off or knocking down anyone trying to disturb.

You guys should re-read these posts and reflect on what they really say about the writer.

This proposal was intended to also help bring this so called "community" closer together. The corporate world calls it "Team Building". But of course sub-blue collar workers can't understand that concept. That is why they will always be where they are and never advance their lives any higher than just above those of convicts.

I salute all of you with the negative attitudes that you so eagerly flow out to the rest of the world. You make my life just that much easier to endure as I can always compare my life's trials to those of yours, which make you the way you are.

I salute all of you who never have an idea that is intended to make a community feel better about themselves and their fortunes. That is why you will always be in the middle of no where and in that travel trailer hiding from the world while we thrive.

I salute those of you who see the world as your enemy. You may just be out numbered. You may want to reconsider fighting a loosing battle.

But most of all I bask in the greatness of those with open minds and hearts who give more than they seek to receive. You are truly the meaning of humanity and compassion. Without you the world would be as Fighter Ace is "chewing gum for the mind".

I would like to thank all of you who posted in this proposal. Each reply is appreciated without matter to its content or position on the subject presented herein. I apologise to those of you whom I have offended with this proposal and this final posting on the subject for you are indeed the underprivleged. Your following posts will prove that to the community. I hope that those of you who were not offended, may sit back with confidence and pride in knowledge that you are the cream of the crop. Enjoy your game.

For those of you who find a feeling of superiority in pointing out spelling errors I say, "Check your Grammer."
