Could be wrong here, but don't you U.S. types have a thing called Chapter 11??

Not sure how it workes, but I understand that if a company is heading for (or goes) bankrupt, they can file for Chapter 11 and continue trading. Could iEN be heading for this?

Captain Krunch...
Who are you? I have never heard of or seen you in Warbirds? Are you another WB wannabe? Get yourself an account and you will see that WB is alive and well

I spoke with an IEN employee last night who said the company was very much in the green.

Too many people have already got WB's in a casket, their grave dug, ready to throw them in.

I'm no expert on the health of this company and seriously doubt that these guys are either.

what bunk....I hope AH makes it big guys but I'd really hate to see WB go down the tubes leaveing us with the same situation:1 game worth flying and no compatition...
I for one likes the old WB crew (ah guys) and really look forward to the new sim...
It felt like a family rather than a big corp.
My guess is thats what AH will be like.

Brendo,

Who am I?  I stopped flying WB about a year ago after almost 2 years of playing.  $2 an hour is robbery for ANY online game let alone WB.  I don't know why it took me so long to realize what a waste of time and money WB was.  I think that I wanted to play a realistic WW2 fighter game SO MUCH that I neglected to notice what a pile of crap WB actually was.  Don't get me wrong, it's still the best online flight sim to date.  Unfortunately that's not saying much.  On almost every level it's a really bad game.

Well my captain, it time you backed off.

Warbirds has changed hands before, so I dont think the IEN collapse viewpoint is such a deadly issue.

If you dont play the game, then you dont have the right to make such broad banded sweeping statements about its demise. If you were online you would quickly see how alive the community is.

Hey Krunch...

If you think $2.00 an hour  is too much to pay for ANY online sim...what are you doing here...? You think THIS game is gonna be free?...cause if you do you better remember who implemented the play by the hour policy in the first place.

Hopefully we won't be gouged too bad for all of these cool new features we're hearing about...but I suggest you rethink your policy of not paying by the hour for flight sims...or don't bother hanging around here condemming people arbitrarily for it.

Mookie????

I never condemned anyone in my last message.

As for who set up the $2 an hour rule I know exactly who did it, hehe.  Even so, the pricing structure for AH has not been announced.  While we are waiting for the official word to come down from atop Mount Olympus I'll announce MY online gaming policy.  It's something fairly close to the Midas ad, "I'm not going to pay a lot for that muffler!"  I'm not going to pay $2 an hour to play ANY online game!  At my peak I remember racking up a WB bill that hit $200 for one month!!!  PLEASE!!!  That's a sickness not a hobby.

Krunch...

Sorry if I came down on you with both feet there.

As to hourly rates though...We may all be pleasantly surprised if AH announces a flat fee online rate...or an hourly fee of less than $2.00 an hour;  but it's hard to move backwards,  (especially economically,) I think it's a pretty good bet that after a possible free beta period, we'll be paying just as dearly for a ride in this arena.

But until they announcement...we can hope.

Hello all. Please nobody attack me here because I have never played WB online..  I have played it offline mode for years, but I have always thought it too pricy to pay by the hour.  That's not an attack on those charging or paying the 2/hr, that's an honest statement about myself, & my opinion.  Remember when AOL went to unlimited service, flat monthly fee?  They more than quadrupled their business..  I think the flat rate scheme is the way to go..  I would definately pay 30 bucks a month or whatever..  And I'm a cheapskate!

Hopefully, this is one of the reasons AH will win business, because they don't appear to be a massive company, so they won't have the same huge overhead to pay, so they can charge a reasonable rate for service, so they get lots more customers..  Make sense??  It does to me..

And guys, I can't understand this attitude of, "I'm sure we'll have to pay dearly for it, but that's ok with me!"  This is why WB is going down the tubes!  Because there are many fewer diehard fans that are willing to get raped for their online thrills than there are people like me who don't want to get raped for an ocassional online game..  This is not a personal attack on anyone here (and I'm sure I'll get flamed now), but that is the way I see it from a business standpoint.

Either way, I look forward to flying online against actual human opponents, and I am excited to see AH!!!

cheers,
Texas2

No flames from me Tex, flat rates encourage a lot more people to join the community.

Saying that high prices will keep the dweebs/killa-types out is pretty absurd, you'll just rob yourself of potential customers. I bet a lot of AW-players would love to convert to a more realistic sim (aka WB) but are discouraged by the pricing.

I predict warbirds to hit the market at $19.95 flat rate by next summer. either that or its curtins.

Oh, I don't think so. 29.95$ will be good enough for WB. We won't forget, they will have also a Mac WB3.0, will we?

Looks like a bigger player base with all those PC guys not leaving their Mac comrades behind.
