Jeeezuz man, snap out of it.  Maybe the guy was standing for patriotism, or maybe he was standing because he toejam his pants and couldn't stand sitting in it any more.  What's the difference?  Moralizing a picture doesn't make you more or less patriotic, and certainly doesn't make you more or less American.

I care not what anyone else thinks. I care not what anyone else's interpritation is. What I see is a picture of a soldier...a soldier who fought and sacrificed for his country.

(loved how you put three points as an emphasis for emotional pause)

LOL you dont even know who the guy is, if he is a soldier, or even if he is american. You dont even know if he is just stretching. You dont even know if the hymn is playing.
I was in a military academy and I can tell you the crowd doesnt have to stand all thru a parade which can last for hours of flags and flags going by.

some people love playing with the emotions of the gullible. Thats all that site is.

Now go feel like a better person.

Just a cultural question : in the USA when there is a military manifestation is there an order for the troops ?
West-Point first next Marines etc ...

For exemple in France for the 14th of july the manifestation will allways end with the "Légion étrangère".

Now wait just a minute.

I really do not care what the picture emphesizes or not...I'm relating what I feel when I saw it.

So diddlyin what if I don't know that guy...so what if my interpritation is wrong...I don't care...

But to each his own...

SOB-

This is what the picture represents to me. Why he was standing is anyones guess but we all know what the picture symbolizes.

Make all the little Toilet jokes you want.

Like Texace, I will continue to salute and thank every veteran I meet.

So the picture symbolizes to you the anger that you believe there are some who are more patriotic than others?

Well, good for you Muckmaw, there's nothing wrong with that.  There's also nothing wrong with someone not getting all teary-eyed when they see that picture.  There's also no link between respecting veterans and seeing a message of patriotism in that picture.

Patriotism is fine, whats wrong is pretentious people who feel they somehow are more patriotic and worthy of reverence.

Maybe I'm being a party pooper and spoiling it for the people who enjoy the group masturbation they like to disguise as patriotism.
