Thanks, Heater.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

hum ... interpretation ... interpretation and interpretation ...

You assume a lot from a picture taken at 1/60 of second ....

Imagine another story :
Crowd stand up during 2 hours ... the old man is sit on his wheelchair ...

Crowd have a rest ... old man stand up because he see a relative ...

picture taken ...

it's different no ?

it's just another interpretation not a tentative to  insult an old man.

In any case he deserve a

true :)

But interpreting a picture is hard and pretty dangerous ....

For exemple when I've seen this pict for the first time I wondered why the West-Point Cadet were waving a Soviet Union flag :D

It's threads like this that make me ashamed to be American.

You people see a chance to rip into a patriot, and give it every thing you've got.

What the hell do you know about what this man did? Nothing. Nor do I.

But have we've become so cynical, that any opportunity to spit on what is obviously meant to be a patriotic image is seized upon with great zeal.

Maybe this guy had polio. Maybe he never fought in any war. It's not the man in the picture. It's the Men he represents in the photo.

He represents people you probably passed on the street, not even greeting them. You walk with your head down, and pass right by.

How many of you have sat down and talked to a WWII veteran. I have. I see them every week. Men like Preston Kodek, who flew an F6F in the Pacific, and watched 3 of his best friends die in combat. Men like Robert Bauman, a B-17 pilot, shot down over Belgium on his 5th mission, only to spend the next 2 years as a prisoner of War. 6 of his crew killed.

These and many more are the men this fellow represents.

Without men like him, you would not even have a message board to bash him.

So next time you see a veteran, why don't you put your liberal agenda in check for a minute, and say "Thank you."

They fu*ckin' deserve at least that.

I know :) but imagine my surprise at first :D

@muckmaw I hope it was not adressed to me as if you notice as soon as I posted I edited my message to add the following.
In my post I just wanted to show how an interpretation can be abusive you just need 1/60 second to take a picture.

I care not what anyone else thinks. I care not what anyone else's interpritation is. What I see is a picture of a soldier...a soldier who fought and sacrificed for his country. I see a soldier who has the guts to stand and salute the flag he fought for while everyone else sits and gawks at the purty colors and the sharp lookin' uniforms.

In this day and age...there are very few people who give a damn about their flag or the veterans that fought for them. In my mind...I don't care if you have served, are serving, how long you served, or if you were in combat...any soldier deserves a salute, for he's fighting for our freedom. The freedom we cherish...the freedom we've come to enjoy...was fought for by men like him. The next time you see a veteran, give him a salute and a thanks.

I never understood why some of the American public looks down on veterans. I cannot imagine why. I extend my thanks to any veterans who read this board...because people like you made this country the place it is today. A place where freedom is the name of the game. People like Hangtime and all the rest of the veterans. Thank you...
