Interview coming and looking for a volunteer
« on: February 28, 2003, 12:10:49 PM »
There will be an interview regarding AH2 appearing at SimHQ soon.  It will provide a lot of information regarding AH2 and ToD.

Meanwhile, I need some help to get our faq updated.  I'm looking for a volunteer who is knowledgable about writing faq's to help me out with the AH2 faq.  Basically, I need someone to gather all the frequently asked questions and arrange them in a logical faq format along with the table of contents.  I'll then put in the answers.  Let me know if this is something that you're adept at and interested in doing.  Thanks.

Quit making fun of my spelling errors.  I don't know why my spelling has degraded over the years, maybe it's a kontayjus malladee.

As soon as we get some difficulties with the site fixed (some of you may have noticed we haven't had any news posted for a while) we will get the interview up.

Lets just say it 'somehow' got screwed up pretty bad and we are doing some extensive repairs to the site.

Hmmm. Perhaps too quick.  Is anyone else still around that had volunteered that could step in for Charon?

Perhaps you should find out what the hell you're talking about before you put your fingers on your keyboard hot shot. I spent about 6 hours of my personal time and sent in a list of FAQ questions for HTC staff to answer about 3 days after the request. As I understand, the questions raised some points (particularly with the TOD) that had yet to be decided. Many features of the flight model, damage and graphics componets have already been covered in HTC posts. So has the "what happened to the FAQ?" by Pyro, for anyone knowledgable in the use of the search function.

Well I wasn't intentionally trying to step on your toes or besmirch you.  But I have to say thanks for that for at least there's finally an update on the FAQ.   FWIW I had all the questions that had been posted and all of HTC's published "bits" on AHII gathered  up too. I know it takes time and effort.  And when I saw Pyro had chosen a person to work the FAQ with him I deleted my .doc and looked forward to keeping an eye on the FAQ that most of us assumed HTC would frequently update. The one you were working on - o r would have.   In the mean time there's been nothing to really update the FAQ on AH-II from HTC with.

NP Westy, I was a bit irritable this morning :)  I don't how how much a FAQ would help the initial AH2 classic release at this point, since much of the basic has been covered.

After pulling the questions together I could see that there were a number of gameplay dynamics issues with TOD (some very significant) that will require careful consideration from the crew at HTC. The desire for squad participation or controls for player behavior, for example, that could be significant factors for success or failure. Really, the whole infrastructure TOD will be founded upon. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

A long time ago BiGB, in a decade far far away, there was a movie called Repo Man. That, is Miller.

Miller: A lot of people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a bunch of unconnected incidents and things.... They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice of coincidence that lays on top of everything.

Give you an example, show you what I mean: suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. Suddenly somebody will say like "plate" or "shrimp" or "plate of shrimp" out of the blue, no explanation. No point in looking for one either: it's all part of the cosmic unconsciousness.

Otto: Did you do a lot of acid, Miller? Back in the hippy days?
