Funny story about Black Butte Porter:

My sister and brother-in-law live in a small town, Dayton Or. (Between McMinnville and Newberg for you oregonians).  At the local bar, you always find the same old codgers drinking thed same beer they have for years.  My brother-in-law moves into town, and decides to scope out the local watering hole.  He orders up a Black Butte Porter.  The bartender looks at him kind of funny, and says 'Are you Serious?'

He ends up telling my brother-in-law that he can't sell the stuff, no one wants it.  The locals all drink their Hamms (or whatever).  He sets up a deal with my brother-in-law to sell it to him for a dollar a pint, in order to get rid of it.  So now, that's about all my brother-in-law drinks.

favorite mass produced beer is Newcastle Brown.

Watney's Cream Stout is nice.  Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout is nice as well.

I brew my own now.  I just use the Northern Brewer kits, so I don't have any of my own recipes.  yet.  :)

you should talk to ghosth.  he brews a lot of stuff, including mead.  :)

I really liked the Spaten Octoberfest.  But I usually just drink a mass produced American beer like Michelob.

Roger that MiniD.. just about anything from Deschutes.

Walking down the beer aisle in the NW is often an exersice in frustration, with hundreds of handcrafted delicious beers.. on a road trip across I 90 to Boston, stopping for beer in say South Dakota or Indiana.. oh my god.. you get Bud and Bud lite. How can people live there?

I have a new favorite I forgot to mention.  Deschutes brewery is great, but I think I like Pelican better.  Had some Cape Kiwanda cream ale the other day (remnants of a recent trip up to Oregon) that was dang good.  Unfortunately, gave away a stout before I had a chance to try it (tsunami stout?)

Check the stuff out if you are in the area.

all this talk is worthless, there is no bad beer (except corona, i hate that toejam)

it is just a question of personal taste.  Sleeman's honey brown please.

but why drink beer when there is some much good scotch?

Miller Genuine Draft. My favorite over-the-counter domestic brew.

Yeah, I'm pretty boring.
