Certain players and topics on channel 1....
« on: March 15, 2003, 10:00:21 AM »
Hopefully the end of the free promo will reduce this somewhat...

There are certain players who feel that channel 1 and AH gives them the right to start political debates...  yeah yeah and I was sucked in by one of em on this point  Who went on to rave that he has freedom of speech...

Think most of us who play regularly know who these players are...  They don't come to play the game, they get so deeply engrossed in their troll/debate that I can't see how they could possibly have time to fly as well.

During the free promo there have been some of the biggest rants on channel 1 I have ever seen, and I feel it reflects poorly on the game BIGTIME.  Perhaps moderators with mute powers might have saved a few new accounts...

Agreed.  Channel one should be reserved for philosophy, mathematics, and occasional discourses into the nature of the mind.

Freud?  Yes!  Sports?  No!

Dostoevsky?  Yes!  Taunting enemies?  No!

Collegiate discussions?  Yes!  Casual conversation?  No!

End the awful barbaric channel one talk, let us all agree to confine our conversations to nothing but the highest intellectual discourse.

I look forward to debating the merits of Xunzi and Mencius's take on the concept of human nature, perhaps followed by a delightful romp through Elizabethian-poetry.

I know, wetrat, you prefer post-modernistic deconstruction to Elizabethian poetry, but we should confine those disagreements to Channel 1 in the game, the etheric repository of deep thought.

But the point has been made, many times, that this is a WW2 simulator not a chat room. If people want to chat mIRC is free and avalable for download at many sites.

"to rave that he has freedom of speech... "

Do we really have freedom of speech while chatting through hitechcreations product?  Is it their rules or the highway?

I think theres nothing wrong with having a conversation on channel 1, be it political or not.  Thats a conversation, an argument on the other hand has no place on channel 1...Which is where most polotical conversation end up...In a stupid argument between 2 or more people.
