actually... british cars are quite fast and reliable if you put in GM wiring, Chevy or Ford V8's and richmond gear boxes..

Nice ride saurdauker. Noticed you said an alignment is on the to-do list. Be careful who ya get to align that baby. 911's have one of a kind suspension and it all adjusts unusaly. Supposed to have a special wrench to adjust the rear camber. We repaired a wide body 85 ruf 911 a few months ago. After adjusting the rear suspension, under hard acceleration it would try to slip in the toe adjustment. Had to go back and retighten it. A 92 turbo 911 did the same thing a few years ago. Might keep it in mind.

Both are very, very quick.

Funked, no intercooler - its not a Turbo, but the front and rear spoilers are a factory option.  Its FAR less inspiring in the acceleration department than the 951, but the handeling charectaristics make up for that - its "interesting."

Ill have the car on the Pocono South course at the end of May, so well see how it likes the track.  Ill just have to remember not to lift in the turns and as standard practice, tape a little sign in teh corner of the windshield that reads "Drive it home."  ;)

Wetrat... yes I would like an AM, unfortunately they are a tad out of my price range.

MiniD - 1988 - I was shooting for a late 3.2L because of the G-50 tranny (87-89) and I like the "rawness" of the pre-964's (no power steering, etc) - the car requires alot of "work" to get the most out of it - its a challenge, but very rewarding.

hblair - Aye, Im constantly fascinated when I poke around in this thing.  The alignment will have to be done after I get  track wheels mounted.  Im going to have it done professionally because I dont want to screw around with re-indexing the torsion bars 15 times... 130MPH on the back straight is not when you want to be wondering if the car will stay pointed straight.

The stock wheels are pizza cutters - skinny 6's in front and 7's in the back.  Im gonna try and mount 7.5's up front and 9's in the rear - hoping I wont have to adjust camber too much or roll the fenders.

Other than that, thanks for the tip, I hadn't heard of anything quite like what youre describing, Ill watch out for it.

Gas prices......bah! I just put 10 gallons of 102 octane Phillips 66 racing fuel in my turbocharged intercooled honey today :) Only $3.45 a gallon ;)  It's worth it to be able to run 20psi of boost without a trace of knock.

Its better not to listen to hblair saur.  He doesn't really know much about cars, bodywork or paint.  I suggest heading over to http://www.bimmerfest.com and asking a few of the detailers over there.

Want to buy a Porsche dealership banner for your garage?

I got it in Germany in 83, it's about 16' x 8' in size nylon with Porsche emblem on it.

Swa-weet Saur!  Porchse is on my "Wants" list..maybe by 2005/2006 the financial officer it will make the "Needs" list ;)

If you need any tips on keeping Jet black swirl free, MiniD suggested bimmerfest.com detail forum, which is a good source of information, and better yet check out Autopia.com, they have a larger database of information.
have fun!

john said... "all the TVR's i've worked on had ford motors"

yeah, but they were still crippled with british electrics so they didn't run.   The car in the pic was pushed really fast by a Buick (the guys who made the rover V8) and then the buick stomped on the brakes to get out of the picture.

sour... rip is also a good source for garage carpeting services.

Best damn thing I ever did!  With several kids party's and Wifes hobbies, it acts like a recreation room on the rainy days here in the PNW.  Roll up the matts, turn on the garage heater, Voila! Instant rec room. :)  Only 2 of 3 stalls carpeted, the 3rd stall is a work bench, lawn tractor, storage area with Concrete painted floor:
