here's the Babelfish translation:

Sunday, 16 March 2003
"dreadful consequences"
Swearing to Pope words

Pope Johannes Paul II. warned of " the dreadful " consequences of an Iraq war. " An international military operation would have dreadful consequences for the Iraqi population and for the equilibrium in the entire Middle East region ", said the 82-Jaehrige with the fishing rod US prayer in Rome.

" It remains still time for negotiations, it gives still clearance for the peace, it is never too late, in order to understand each other and negotiate around further. " The Pope reminded the members of the uncertainty advice of the fact that a force employment " was permitted to the UN Charter probably only according to that " well-known principles.

Indirectly the Pope swore to the USA to deviate from their war course: " About the own obligations to think to commit itself to negotiations to work means not, to degrade itself but responsibly for the peace. "

Johannes Paul II. addresses also an urgent appeal to " the responsible persons politicians in Bagdad " to always give the fate of the own people the highest priority. Bagdad has the obligation to work with the international community fully together " in order to eliminate each reason for a military intervention ".

" I belong to the generation, which the Second World War experienced and survived ", said the Pope afterwards, without holding itself to the speech text. " Therefore legend I the youth: Never again war. " One is to pray and chamfered for the peace, which is a gift of God.

I went directly to the CNN English and US pages and couldnt find anything about this.  I don't know why he was swearing so much or what he was doing with the fishing rod :)

god doesn't answer my emails.

washington does.
The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

...at home, or abroad.
