Is peace simply the absence of war?  Or is it something more?

I feel really insulted. I am currently transplanted here by good old Uncle Sugar.  I thought that my correct usage of the English language and omission of any "ya'll" or "fixin" would have made that clear :)

Naa I don't think Raub is a true Yankee. Uncle Sugar has moved him around to much to still have what little southern bloodlines he did have. He has been polluted by the great satan called north of the Mason/Dixon line. :D

Since mankind managed to rise up off all fours there has never been peace.  There will eventually be peace once mankind has left the premises.

Until then be prepared, always to defend yourself.

Peace of mind is never a good thing.  Why do so many people seek it?  It's not the same as happiness.

Plenty of other species kill their own kind.
And in humans, war predates culture.  I think natural selection is always going to result in the dominant species being one that can kick a little ass.
Think of the beginning of Kubrick's 2001.  What's more peaceful, having a full belly and fresh water to drink and a little blood on your hands, or having none of the above?
