funny observation on USA
« on: March 25, 2003, 10:40:44 AM »
Hey Hangtime, I still owe you a "here's my thoughts", as soon as I have more than 1 h of free time you will get it .

Anyway, what's up with all this antiwar protest in USA?!?! Radio ... TV ... L.A. streets ... those guys are everywhere arguing.

It just doesn't make sense. 2 months ago France was the great evil standing up to USA, every American pointing fingers and spiting at it. Now, once the war started, looks like half of the country is demonstrating.

What's up with demonstrating ONCE it started, when there is no point anymore? Is half of the country kind of slow?

Dat jugs bro.

Terror flieger since 1941.

yes.. half the country is slow.

now that they've seen casualties on our side, they're really getting wound up in the streets.

many Americans, believed this war would be quick like the last.. I had people getting MAD at me when I voiced my opinion of this last week.. this week they're agreeing

---

what should have happend:

demonstrate BEFORE the war..
once we're in combat.. support the troops and the US

time to demonstrate has passed IMO

notice they show thousands in the street protesting against the war. taken from a distance of a quarter mile the protestors fill the screen.

then a highschool bleacher with 250 or so people scattered about all with flags. taped from about 20 feet away.

these are considered equal protests?

give it another month and another trillion or so dollars  and we will see how much support is for our troops and how much is for the zelot deserter killing them. aka chimpi

you're right, I didn't calculate in 100% of the media being slow...so that changes the numbers somewhat

Strange... I missed the funny portion of that post frenchy.

Seems you're definately on a tear with the posts today... so I'll say this once for you because you don't seem to grasp American news, radio or much else this week.

Radio:  Everything said is strictly for reaction.  They cater to their audience and give them what they want.  If its a right wing crowd, they spew right wing crap.  If its left wing, they do the opposite.  Its polarity based.  Nobody wants objective counterpoints.  Those aren't good for market share.

News:  The news could show people sitting in their homes content with what's going on... or agreeing with it.  But, that wouldn't exactly make for an exciting show.  They show the unusual newsworthy things... not the norm.  My wife works at the federal building downtown.  Its across from the county courthouse, the city courthouse and the state courthouse.  Needless to say, 90% of all protests start there.  I can not begin to tell you how many times I've driven by protests that had more media coverage personell than protestors.  Yet.. to see it on the news that night... well... they had to make it news.

Even the large protests that gather 1000s of people are not representative of the overall attitude.  But, they are newsworthy, so they do get massive coverage.  Once again... its only covering the outspoken against, not everyone.

Its called perspective Frenchy.  You'll see what you want to see.

90% of US citizens love to hate the French.  50% of US citizens are stupid, and of that 50%, half are painfully stupid.  ;)

I like Frenchy.
Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".
