well, that would have been more fun if I had waited for the lost LW to catch up.   I was kinda following one group of LW guys, but they weren't going the right way, so I turned.  Sure enough, I found the buffs.  I took a pass, and got one to smoke.  I called out positions, numbers, and escorts.  Then made another pass.   Didn't get hit going in, but got lit up like a Christmas tree going out.  Who said high 2-8 passes were safe?

Thats too bad, was great fun though.  I was hoping for more on the way in, but instead we got it on the way home.

Thanks to everybody that took part.  Was a load of fun with very little planning.

I hope everyone was able to fly what they wanted, but I have to admit, the limited ta152s made them that more scary when they showed up.

Couple of things ....

Wind or something was causing us to lose our drones.

How did the escort do?  How was the p47 matching the lw at that alt?  As good as hoped or less than perfect?

Well we were in P47D-25s and we have no complaints.  In a straight dog fight we would have been meat, but since we were concentrating on just keeping the bombers clear, we did fine.

it looked lik eit was gonn abe fun, but right when i started my dive on the inbounds (in a ta152, of course) roadrunner cable decided to go tits up on me.  i couldn't get back in til you guys were on your way home and it was a play catchup in a lower 109g10, get one and then lose a wing.

ah well. next time.

ouch.  Cable modems scare me.  Is it still a matter of how much pron your neighbor is downloading that determines your connection speed?

Just wanted to thank all who joined in the bomber mission last night.  We really didnt do much damage but oh what fun flyin with all those planes around you. Out escorts did a great job and the LW guys did to. We were lucky our escorts kind of broke up the inb lw fiters and they came in 1 or 2 at a time made it a little easier for us. If all those 152s,190s, and 109s would have come at once could have been more than we could handle. Dont think we really lost any bombers due to enemy untill after we dropped, but lost a lot of drones on the way there, something about the wind, damn if I know! ERG great job, been kind of busy lately and you did a fine job of running the show, heh thats why I made you the bomb leader (tootin my own horn there hehe) and a big salute to all who took part, think everyone can look forward to the VF27 setting up some more of these kind of things, I know our squad really enjoyed it!

lol, i was trying to get all the lw assembled in a big gaggle, but some were just too eager.  ah well.

and cable is bandwidth sensitive, yes, but that 's more for download speed than connection speed. i've seen pretty stable pings for the most part. and we *all* share the main pipes in the routing system regardless of connection type.

That was The Bomb, erg.  I echo the sentiments of whoever it was who said we ought to do this once each week.

Thanks for doing it this time.

From the 106th Air Group.. We were the High cover for the bomber group in ponys'....  It was fun...  Can't wait until next time...  Maybe the LW could mount a bomber raid... A mass of JU88's and 87's would be fun to swarm.. hehehe...

Thanks ergRTC, VF-27,  325th,  880 and any other Allied groups/pilots I missed and to the LW pilots.. Shane, Oldman, 13th Sentai, JG 3 (sorry if I missed someone) Made for a fun night of flying.. Would have been more fun for me if I had not ripped my wings off chasing asw(or aws sorry dude can't remember your handle.. should been shot down by you enough.. )... down.. (stupid paper wing pony.. HAHHAHA)

Wanted to shoot shane down again... but oh well...

Shane Shane Shane........................ .... JG3 was teamed up with 13th Sentai, and as usual the text buffer was full of you insulting people, and complaining about how they fly the whole time we were on the bomber intercept. You laid out such gems as , the Allied pilots don't know how to fly their planes, and whats your new insult to people something to do about jousting?? Exactly when did you try to coordinate anything?? Pfft you just have to toot your own horn no matter how sour the music huh? If anybody worked to coordinate the LW side it was Jester00.

Erg, Hijacker great mission! Our group of planes did get to the buffs  in a good size wave. We must have missed you in the early stages . We had a huge dar bar and a lot of LW formations we could see on dar. When we got to the area  there was a huge high alt furball between LW and P-47s. We turned back east and thats when we finnally caught sight of you guys. When we attacked the close escorts were busy with other LW , and we actually got an initial pass in without being attacked by them.
Most of our losses were due to buff guns. However we did knock down some buffs.

The one gunner controling all the guns on a three aircraft formation , makes it tough on the guy targeted. Especially when there is a large formation. You've got to get in quick try and target a box who's firing on somebody else make your pass count and haul prettythang. It was quite a challenge , and we enjoyed it very much. Great stuff.

Can't say I was overly impressed with the Ta152h.

Got one kill and died twice.

Those heavily concentrated bomber formations were hell.  I dove into formation on their 9 o'clock, came in from behind and low, up through center of formation.  Sent lead bomber of that formation down in hail of 30mm.  As I cleared that formation, fire from  neighboring formation sheered off my wing.

Caught up with main bomber group again just after they completed bomb run.  Lined up and was going in from high 3 o'clock, got hammered by P47 I never saw.

This was a pretty cool set-up.   to VF 27 for getting it started.  If I had it to do again I would've taken a D9.

I was able to get in a high speed pass lighting up a couple of b17's was so fast and lost so much alt took me a while to reaquire the bombers. When I got them sighted again lined up on a b17 but again was so fast could not get out of the way of the b17 and crashed into him thus ending my mission.

to all was a good time.

All in all was great fun.  My squad (13th Sentai) intercepted the bomber stream in Ta152s alongside JG3.  Was an awesome sight to see all those planes in the sky.  I thought it reflected alot of what I have read about these encounters in real life in that utter confusion reigned almost immediately after we made contact.  I found myself separated from the rest of my squad after our initial pass and was pretty much on my own thereafter.

I was able to smoke one 17 and destroy another.  Was bounced twice by fighters and forced to dive away.  The escorts were well disciplined and broke off before they got too low.  Took hits and sustained some damage from a 51 in the last bounce so I RTB'd and landed safely.

Thanks to erg for organizing this and to all who participated.
