Yeager: Miko, are you sympathetic with the arab male terrorists between the ages of 17 and 40?
I pretty specifically stated that "I am not arguing here whether those actions were justified..." but since you are asking, I will tell you that I am not sympathetic with the terrorists.
What I am saying is that if we go and rearrange the governments of the countries where those despicable terrorists live, it is only natural to expect trouble from them and take precautions, like arming the pilots, guarding the embassy better, etc.
In Iran the appropriate response would have been for the incoming regime, however backward and prehistoric it was, to expel the american diplomats.
The capture of the embassy was not done by the regime but by militant students.
In Saudi Arabia the appropriate response would have been for the Saudi people to depose of the, how you say, despotic monarchy.
I bet few tens of thousands of US troops standing there would have had a different opinion. US has a history of propping despotic regimes when it suits our interests and Saudi and Kuwaiti regimes are the most suitable to our interests so far.
Given the democracy, they tend freely to elect fundamentalist governments or socialists that nationalise holdings of foreign industries or nationalists like Hitler that want to return some territories, or "appeasers" like french, etc.
Flying 767s into american institutions is a rather ignorant and self destructive thing to do.
I was not working in WTC only becasue a couple of year earlier Solomon broke the signed contract, or retracted it with the penalty, whatever and our company did not move there but a few of my friends and relatives were working there and in the immediately adjucent buildings. I was on next to the guy talking on the phone to his brother on the 82(?) floor ntill the oment we saw the tower fall in the window. Had to keep my house windows closed for a few days because of the smoke and smell.
But as much as I deplore this destruction, I have to say that while it seriously disrupted our plans, it was a very conducive to their (Al-Qaeda) plans.
This pursuit and employment of terror will not work in a civilized world.
I bet it does. I can see it working where I live. Who do you think we are, israeli, to bury our dead and go on with our lives? We are changing and most likely exactly like those people wanted us to change.
All it will do is cause the death of millions, mostly arabs.
I am afraid that the lives of those millions concern you much more than they concern Al-Qaeda. Such deaths will not make them change their evil designs.
