Yesterdays Talladega race
« on: April 07, 2003, 10:55:13 AM »
Anybody go? I took my boys down saturday for the aarons 312 and the Iroc race. Wish I'd have splurged and gone back yesterday. It had to have been one of, if not the most, exciting winston cup races they've had there. That and the fact that dale junior is establishing himself as a superspeedway force to be reckoned with. Just like his old man. Creamo, were you there? :)

If you're going to splurge on your kids, be sure to bring some paper towels.

Nope.  But I was at Texas the week before where Jr and Gordon made a hell of a race for 2nd place in the last 2 laps with Jr just edging Gordon out at the line.  Newman ran away with it down here, but you could see it coming from the start.  His car was just awesome all day.

California Race coming up soon. The Fontana track is about 20 miles from my house. The traffic jams are god-awful.

Thanks RJ.  :)

Your porn hero may be the Hedgehog, but as you can see from my wisecrack, I'm a fan of Peter "The Decorator" North.  :)

Dale Jr. was a force to be reckoned with last year, or maybe even year before when he and Michael Waltrip traded first-place finishes at Daytona's two races.  Yeah, Sunday's race was pretty good but I could only pay partial attention to it because I was defending Rookdom from the Bishop and Knight hordes.  Those last 16 laps were real nail biters and I thought Dale was out of it going into the last 5 or 6 laps when he seemed to fall back.  Then, when Johnson spun on the 2nd to last lap I thought we'd see a race finish under red flag or even a caution.  What sent him into the spin?  I missed the replay - did he get pushed?

I thought his nickname was "beercan" because of the prodigious amount of.....um, fluids, that he produces?

At any rate, the guy is amazing.

I haven't heard the "beercan" name, but "The Decorator" has the same origin.

Tally was a decent race and it worked out well for a Lil E fan like myself. Lap 4 looked to me like the world ended, 29 cars in that disaster.

Saurdaukar

You and I always show up in these threads, F1 (aside from this year as it seams to be getting interesting) has usually been follow the ferrari's, it is more how much money and development you can throw into a car.

I like Montoya, and Couthard (sp?)

WRC all the way, NZ this week correct? let's go Solberg.

johnson "tapped" someones front bumper, not sure whose fault if anybodys. was really close race, but thats how nascar is setup, to have close races.

F1 needs to get rid of "wings" and get back to real racing. and nascar needs to find out what "rain tires" are for.
