Very Cool stuff! Spaceflight has to move forward and I think this has a pretty good shot. The Shuttles are starting to show their age and weaknesses. Maybe this will get NASA off their butts and back to the drawing board.

Nasa will get a nasty kick in the rear if they get that thing outside the atmosphere and back.

This craft could actually be adapted by NASA as a personnel and light transport vehicle.

well, the details were not known, but Scaled Composites was registered for the X-prize with a version of their Proteus high-altitude aircraft as a mothership. It was pretty obvious that they were going to be the first to finish

If its competing for the X-Price it has to be able to reach orbit.

I also volunteer as test pilot for the first flight.

No it doesn't.

Rules for winning the X-Prize:
1. Travel to 100km in altitude
2. Have 3 people in the craft.
3. Survive.
4. Do it again within 2 weeks.

No requirement on orbit, it's all about altitude. Baby steps, my friend, baby steps.
