I live in Seattle, Greenwood to be exact. It's a Thursday late afternoon, early evening, and I'm in the backyard with my little boy in my arms. I hear the drone sound of prop engines, which isn't unusual here with all the floatplane traffic from Lake Union. But this sounds deeper, more to it. So I look up, and whaddaya know, it's a damn B-17 flying without a care in the world at about 1-2k feet! Looks just like the one in AH too, with the red tail and all. Cool.
I watch it for a while trying to get my 4 month old to look too, but he's still marvelling at things like leaves, so no go. After it fades away into the distance I go back inside the house, where my wife is putting dishes into the dishwasher.
"Guess what I just saw?" I say.
My wife doesn't look up, putting some cups in the top rack. "What d'you see?"
A smile comes over my face. "A B-17."
Finally, she stops and looks up, saying, "A what?"
"A B-17," I say. Her face is drawing a blank, so I quickly add, "It's a WWII bomber. Looks just like the one in Aces High - that game I play."
"Oh." My wife returns to putting some dishes in the bottom rack. "Cool."
Well, I thought it was pretty neat
