No idea why anyone still pays more to play WB3 than what AH costs. I've downloaded and tried every version (offline at least) of WB since it was first called Confirmed Kill and it just can't compete with AH. Different strokes I guess.

"9. Flak towers in the jungle made of holographic material. If i wanted to fly in fantsasyland i'd sign up for Aces High. "

Yeah, Sandman, I saw that too. Not sure what he's talking about either, unless he's yapping about the rocks without substance (which was initiated by AH as a response to complaints by players about losing Tigers to exploding boulders).

Its comforting to know that I can get my online flight sim addiction fed for $15 a month rather than $25 a month.  That leave $10 a month for building model kits. :)

I feel sorry for those guys that love WB. I'd hate to see AH go down that road.

It's a damn shame to see this happening, I started out in Warbirds and still have a soft spot for it. I feel sorry for the WB team who know what's needed but have a bufoon in charge who just doesn't listen.

As someone who plays Warbirds but not AH, let me try to give you some insight into the "fantasyland" comment.

First and foremost, you can't take that comment out of context. Read the entire thread and you'll see that it was written by a raving lunatic.  That there should clear up any misconceptions. :)

If it was written by a normal person, then it might take a bit more explanation.

It use to be that the main differences between AH and WB were philosophical in nature. WB caters to those wanting more historical flavors in their flight sim. Examples:

WB: Rotating plane set with a nice mix of early, mid and late war aircraft
AH: Perk system with most planes enabled 24/7, with emphasis on mid to late war aircraft

WB: Axis vs Allies
AH: Three-color war, all vehicles available to all sides.

WB: Historical terrains used in main arena
AH: Fantasy terrains designed for balance/game play and 3-country war

Here's a nit-picky one but important to dweebs like me: :)
WB: Metric cockpit guages where appropriate
AH: English units for everyone

This list is not intended to debate historical vs. fantasy game play. I enjoyed the 4 color war in WB and also like the axis vs allies.

Like I mentioned above, the items above use to be the main differences between AH and WB. Currently, there are vast differences that has allowed AH to prosper and WB to suffer.

A question for funkedup: Do you play AH these days? If not, what will be your next game to quit? :p

As for me, I'm an IJ fan and like my early war. If WB folds, I'll probably hang up the wings and play quake or something. :)

I always though the main difference was leadership and vision.

Comments were a little harsh towards WillBill.. sorry.

Kek I already quit AH once over some personal issues.  :)
I have an active account , but I don't participate in arenas and am pretty much burned out on WW2 flight sims.  I still play scenarios though.  I doubt I will ever quit completely as long as Northolt Wing exists and there are some decent scenarios in AH.

Games I play the most these days:
Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Live for Speed
Raven Shield
Ghost Recon

PS Kek you should get a 2 week trial account and come fly from Zuikaku with us on Saturday.  :)

Yeah... I really don't think we want to start nitpicking things cause fake roll dampers, reduced bullet damage multipliers, buff-tuff and terrain appearance are some things that come to mind in regards to WB and ruining any immersion aspect.

The sad thing is, our seldomely used Combat Theater sees more action than your main arena.  It just seems that some people have been insisting AH was so bad for so long that they can't really ever come over with a clear conscience.  Oh well... so long as they aren't blaming it on setup reasons that don't exist.

Rgr sandman.

Like I said, the original post was written by a lunatic, so who really knows what he meant. :)

Mini D, no need to get defense. You sit in too much traffic on 217 or I-5 today? Originally from California? What gives? As for immersion factor, hows those chess-piece icons? :p Sheesh, both games are just that, games. I bet you fly with a silk scarf. Scarfing can be dangerous, be careful! :)

Ozark. No such thing as holding back when it comes to wildbill. Fire away, 99% of WBers will agree with you. LOL

Funked up, I did try AH for a 2 week period. It wasn't that bad but I did miss my Ki-43! The cannon armed Ki-61 almost made up for it though.

Basically I have time for only one game. I can see getting burned out on WWII sims.

Defensive?  Maybe a bit.

But... it doesn't negate the fact that everything you presented as a reason is no longer a reason.  The Combat Theater is more active than the Warbirds III WWII arena and it is every bit as "realistic" using those discrepancies you've cited.

But, you will continue to cite those same discrepancies because, well, you always have... and those remaining die hard WB vets always have too.  To admit otherwise would mean admitting that one game advanced while another remained stagnent.  Oh well... not like the few of you left are really going to be missed numbers-wise.  Its too bad... you would have liked flying in a historical arena that was actually populated.

Hiya kekule! I think even you would agree that my rants were small beer compared with this! Remember?! I'm past the anger/frustration phase with WB, but I can empathise with a lot of what fubar said. Aces High a fantasy land? A lot might say that, and there are gameplay issues and a lot of people waiting on the AH2 sidelines.

Read my original post. In case you forgot, this is what I said: "currently, there are vast differences that has allowed AH to prosper and WB to suffer."

That is pretty much stating that AH has advanced while WB remained stagnant.  Ask anyone that plays WB and they will agree. So now what is your point? That your "game" is better than mine? I'll agree with that. Big deal.

Lets run down what we both agree on:

*AH is better overall than WB.

*AH has progressed while WB has stagnated.

Now tell me again why you are so defensive? Doesn't make sense when we agree. lol

I still think you are a native Californian. :p
