Hangtime you have gotta be joking, well I think it's funny. In any case I tend to prefer Australian or Chilean wine myself, the French wines have somewhat lost their way these days. I'm not much of a cheese eater and I prefer my Mediterranean holidays in Spain. Very friendly people the Spanish. I'll keep driving my German car though.

As for your new axis of evil, France, Germany and Russia. Well I look forward to seeing the 3rd Infantry shooting their way up the Champs Elysees live on Fox and the Marines storming the Reichstag.

But seriously none of those countries are friends of the Al Qaida. Indeed the French were working actively against them and warning others long before 9/11. Easily forgotten that. The Russians have their own terrorist problems, a bomb as recently as yesterday in Chechnya.

The biggest problem with silly boycotts is that it will most likely cost American jobs and Irish distillery workers and British aerospace employees and have precious little impact on your target and have the real terrorists laughing up their sleeves at the stupidity of it.

Look at the the list of all those American based companies in Maverick's post. Try and work out how many of your fellow citizens will be out of work as a result of your actions. I have to agree with Dowding on this one. It's like hitting yourself in the head.

The reality these days is that that economies of the whole western world is inextricably linked. The Americans invest in Europe and the Europeans invest in Amerca. If you mess with it we all go down together. It's the whole globalization thing.

cpxxx I urge you to try the wine from "Vallée de la Loire" they are not over-rated like the Bordeau or the Bourgogne and are in general cheaper.

Since when is Al Queda the only group of terrorists that we're out to squash? Sure, it's the one that's always touted in the news because it was behind 9/11. But at no point did the president say that we were at war with Al Queda. He very clearly said we were at war with terrorists and any nation who harbors or supports terrorists. Just because France, Germany, and Russia don't directly support Al Queda, doesn't mean that they weren't all involved in keeping up a regime in another country that did support terrorists, and in France's case, taking active measures to disrupt US actions to end that regime.

Boycotts influence policy. It also makes me feel better. You buy whatever you want, I'll do the same. Every time I buy an I boycott a French product, it hurts that company. My little bit helps. The last time I checked, French import sales were down 10-15%. French tourism sales were down 20-25% from America. That hurts.

When I buy an American product INSTEAD of a French one, it helps that company, more American workers, and keeps my money here.

The origins of todays terrorism come from one place and one place only, Beirut. Until that sh*thole is cleaned up, there will continue to be problems through out the world as an endless supply of matyrs will come forth. The Saudis mostly provide funding as they are a part of the Arab world which mostly supports the terrorist networks now. (yes I am aware that some personnel do come from Saudi as in Sept 11) As for Saudi Arabia, that situation is being addressed with a complete pull out of our troops, and ceasement of all military aid to said country.

One more thought, weren't you on the liberal band wagon about the Americans not picking the new Iraqi Gov't??? Seems to me that keeping any Iraqi citizen out if they wish to return would kinda be against that ideal.
