My family is from Scotland, but I was born here.  I was forced to wear a kilt and play the pipes at an early age.  I still wear them on holidays, and when I play.

oh GAWD...

that company that makes the 'utilikilt' in the link is MAYBE two miles south of my apartment in Seattle. You see the occasional dude running around with one of those here, on Queen Anne hill or Fremont (the socialist republic of Fremont to be more exact). The men think that they look really stylish, but I'm sorry, but they look like idiots. Scottish soldiers running into battle with their full kit on, or Royal Guards at Balmoral Castle.. fine they look good.. but some idiot sipping organic coffee while window shopping for ferns just looks stupid.

What on earth have they done with this wonderful garment?  :eek:  A kilt with pockets?!!!  Whatever next.... they should have sporrans, not pockets!  :rolleyes:   Anyway, gimme the traditional, Scottish tartan kilt over one of those monstrosities any day!  :D

Seeing a man in a traditional kilt, as it sways from side to side while they walk, makes me go weak at the knees..... I love Scottish Country Dancing too when all the men are in kilts......     ;)
