SOB

haven't we gone through this exact same...  discussion, with The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones?

fwiw, I liked the movie.  Mindless entertainment at it's best.  :)

not bad, I already thought about that, and more theories...

but read this...Warning, tho, its a VERY well formulated theory; in fact it's so good that it smells like a filtration...so if you don't want possible spoilers por Revolutions, don't look at that post :)

What is me, I liked the movie a lot. I liked Matrix too. Maybe I'm just so simple as wanting to see action movies for fun, but I like movies that make you think too...

And The Matrix (both movies so far) are movies that let you have simple fun with a simple action movie if you want to take it that way, AND has a complicated, deep, storyline if you want to understand it and think about it's real sense.. so that is something I really enjoy, too.

P.S. I agree, Zion's dancing scene sucks. Too long. The scene should be there but not for more than 30 seconds just to show that everyone is dancing as if they were having fun for the last night (as they are going to). One minute would be overkill...and they made the friggin scene at least 5 minutes long. That's about the only thing I didn't like in the movie.

I recently watched  Animatrix.
Wow. Much better than Matrix Reloaded, IMO.

just got back from seeing it tonight.. my review:  eeeeh?  it was ok.. not worthy of they hype.. id say a 6 on a 10 scale.. excellent effects, what was that sex scene? totally unneeded to tell the story.. we knew that they were in love.  I'll see the 3rd film.. but I'll wait for the DVD to come out.

banana, at first I thought your statement below was a bit racist.

"Mostly Black actors as the heroes. It was good to see that a majority of the good guys were black."

For a change, I thought before I typed.  My feelings on the black actor/actresses is this:  wasn't it nice that race was completely moot?  I mean there was no white guy killing black guy/ vice versa, type cast black people,  white people being portrayed as bigots... etc.   In other words, this "world", from a racial standpoint, is pretty darned ideal.  Race simply didn't matter... everyone was merely a human.

without putting words in your mouth, if it's ok with you that is, I'll surmise that you meant something similar to that..if not exactly.   :)

What I didn't like about the movie:  about all of it.....that dance scene left my wife and I sort of asking each other... "what the heck?"

What I liked about the movie:   The Title.

Almost what I tought.... an (n)-universe (Matrix) and an (n+1)-universe (Zion), in a (n-uple)multiple universes virtual world (chinese boxes?), (is this reality?) ala Philip Dick.

A good explanation on why Smith passed in Zion and Neo stopped the octopus.

I liked the Matrix as a Virtual world, something like a pale form of Gibson's Cyberpunk world... (Smith-Virus, Agents-Demons, Keymaker-Worm).

I liked the action, btw, but the "party-orgy" scene was... unneeded (??).

And Monica Bellucci is.... WOW, as usual. :)

thats just what me and the wife said at the 'dance/rave lets all take Xtasy and undulate' scene.  we looked at each other adn said 'whaaaa was that all about?'

and did I miss the monumental battle between the human ships and the mech-octo-things? I mean the whole movie was the buildup to this galactic epic final battle. Did I miss the battle while digging for jelly-bellys in my bag? They IMPLIED the battle.. "it wasn't a battle, it was a slaughter"..

Nah that was the point in which the CGI Budget went to Zero ;) .  Did anyone else find it a bit cartoonish the way the Sentinels launched the bombs?  All that technology and they dont have a launcher?

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the battle that wasn't shown was the forward fleet action that the fleet commander guy kept saying he needed the Neb' for.  The Battle of Zion isn't slated until the next movie.

Can't wait to see those BattleTech-like things in action..and I most likely won't be disappointed because the trailer for Revolutions shows 3 of them poised in waiting for an attack.

Saw it yesterday. I mostly liked it

Yeah, some fights could be a tad shorter, no biggie.
I like a lot how the storyline is going, would have been better for a book, where you can go and reread carefully the crucial speeches, to distill the plot making phrases from the 'action supporting chatter'.

Also, about the Zion orgy bashing, my take is that 'zionians' need to be horny, how else would you get your pop. from just 23 to 250K in four generations? :D

It's funny though, how the most vocal gun lovin' machos feel somewhat uneasy/offendd/threatened by the mild sexual content. I find it amusing that you have a problem watching Trinity's legs and don't have any moral qualms about her speeding her motorbike the wrong way on the motorway. Ok, you can keep the guns, I'll take the boobies. ;)

Steve... all the bad guys were white.   Most of the good guys were black (if you don't count all the people at the rave dance... I count all of them as "bad guys")
