Here is what I did and is this gaming the game??
Upped a TEMPest to defend a CV that was ~30 miles away. I get over the CV and proceed to kill a formation of B17s that had just sunk the CV (I am a great defender, eh?). After 2 passes the B17s are dead, with only one ping to me. But that one ping had a "bad" sound to it, so I check my damage list. Sure enough, a one ping hit to the radiator. I am 30 miles away from the nearest friendly base, and if you have ever had a radiator hit in a TEMP, you don't fly very far without coolant. So I level out at 6K ft and set a heading the base. I keep a close eye on the temperature guage. I'm pissed about loosing my perks to one ping, so I start thinking "what can I do....?". Just as the temperature guage reaches max, I cut the engine and reduce RPM, thinking at least I could glide in close enough for a ditch instead of a capture. I notice the engine cooling off quite quickly so as the TEMPest slows down to stalling speed, I up the RPM, start the engine and go full throttle. I am able to get up to 200+ mph before cutting the engine again just before it "locks up". As I get within 5 miles of home base, I put the nose down and easily glide it into the approach and use the engine to set her down softly to a successful landing.
Is this taking advantage of a "bug" or "mis-modeling" in the game, or is this taking advantage of the capabilities of the TEMP?
