To the confused about the WWIIOL free trial thingy.

You are almost as obsesive as Blair.

No I am Imsneaky.  Only WIIOL name I've had.

It came from my Delta Force name that was bestowed on me by an opponent in a Search and Destroy game where I snuck through their spawn to blow up their base.

They had 9 of 11 targets destroyed in our base and we had none in theirs.  They had our team locked down, we couldn't get near their base, so I flanked hard and went rightin through their spawn.  Once in I laid my four satchels then went to the armory to get more. Only after I laid satchels in all the targets did I trigger them.

They had 10 of 11 targets by this time and when the game ended many of their players were typing words of triumph.  They didn't realize they had just lost.  Then the ones who did notice started informing them and they were like "WTF?  How?  Who?? When??"

It was all very amusing.  Anyway one of their better players told me "Man you are one Sneaky S.O.B., that should be you name."

My teammates were all like, heck yeah man, it fits.

So I changed it and most Delta Force Players know me as SneakySOB*TOMB*

*TOMB* stood for *Team of Old Men & Bastards* :D

Anyway when Isigned up for WWIIOL it wouldn't recognize capitol leters so when I put in Sneaky, it said the name was either invalid or already taken.  So I said "I'm Sneaky Beotch then laughed and said hey thats it, "imsneaky" and typed it in and it took.  So since June 6th 2001 the WWIIOL community has known me as imsneaky.

I don't give a rat's bellybutton about WW2OL. So do most of the people here, else they would be on the WW2OL boards.

So STFU.

Sorry Imsneaky, I play both, the ww2ol FMs quite a ways behind AH's. The 109s not too bad but the 110s model is terrible. The damage model is equally bizzare in the air.

Ah vulcan... just let people continue to compare the game they play with the one they haven't.  Its more fun that way.

BTW... why do I get the feeling CIA F-16s are about to come into play here?  Maybe its just that **** is getting deep.

Okay so let me see if I have this straight?

In AH the word "free" in the phrase "free trial" means ... umm free.  Okay I got that.

In WWIIOL "free" means that when you buy the game you can play online for a specified time at no additional cost.  So "free" means "no additional cost".  In other words, they are lying.  And this pattern continues in their claims of release dates, promised features, system requirements, etc...

Okay I think I have it now.

This is one thing that I really like about WW2OL.  The icons are nice and I wouldn't mind seeing them here.  That being said, I am not gonna be upset if they remain the same in AH.

Our aircraft can actually hide in a cloud.  I watched a 109 fly up into the clouds and his icon dissapeared.  There were only a few aircraft at the airfield since it was early in the morning and not many people were on.

In Aces High, planes can actually hide in a cloud.  I watched a 109 fly up into the clouds and his icon disappeared.  There were only a few aircraft at the airfield since it was early in the morning and not many people on.

AH has no side specific rides, it's red vs blue not Axis vs Allies.

In the Main Arena, there are no side specific rides.  In the Combat Theater and scenarios, there are side specific rides (and this is also the case with the upcoming mission theater in AH2).

AH has no ground clutter.

Aces High has ground clutter.  I see trees, little huts with naked chicks, rocks, and bushes all over the place (well, except over the water).

AH has no infantry.

This is true, but I will also add that if I wanted to play infantry soldier, I would play Raven Shield, MoH, DoD, or some other shooter.  Then again, this may just be me.

You actually have to search visually for the enemy and it looks more realistic because there is no neon sign telling you where he is.

While this may be true, many people (myself included) are not looking to spend 4 hours a night looking for 3 dogfights to take part in.  I prefer to be able to get up in the air, find my enemy, shoot them down, and land, all in about 10-15 minutes.

AH does not have a damage model as intense as WWIIOL that models all the vitals in a plane or tank.  Does the AH damage model take into acount armor thickness, slope, velocity of projectile etc, etc, etc. before it decides that a hit did any damage?

As a matter of fact it does.  I have been tooling around in an F6F and been hit several times and no damage.  Other times, I die from a pilot kill on the first burst.  There are many systems in each vehicle/plane/boat that can be damaged.  It is not a "20 hits and your plane blows up" damage system.

AH does not incorporate supply or attrition.

This is not present in AH, that is true.  But by the same token, I prefer the ability to be able to up in an F6F when I want to instead of hoping some newbie that doesn't know about being vulched doesn't up 50 times in a Hellcat and attrit all the available F6F's.  I am also happy that I can fly an F6F even though I may have a low rank, and thus be stuck flying an F4F all tour because I don't have the time to devote to increasing my overall rank so I can fly my favorite plane.

no,you dont get it let me brea it down for you,its not very difficult.

first you sign up for the free 7 day trial,no credit card is needed,no cdkey needs to be bought.

after those completely free 7 days you can choose to purchase a cd key online for $20.

that is the same thing as buying the game in a store like you would with everquest or dark age of camelot.

with that cd key you get 1 month free, after that then you start paying $13 a month if you want to subscribe.

You jogging sim 2000 guys are the ones that came in here and started this crap. Why don't you guys go crawl back in your little holes and leave this bbs alone?

I never cared for the intent or design of jogging sim 2000 so never wanted to try it.

Actually AH does have supply and attrition.

You can:
 - bomb field fuel supplies, thus attriting fuel
 - bomb field ordinance supplies, thus attriting rockets/bombs
 - bomb field vehicle hangars, thus attriting vehicles
 - bomb field fighter hangars, thus attriting fighters
 - bomb field bomber hangars, thus attriting bombers
 - bomb field barracks, thus attriting troops (used for capture)
 - bomb fuel factors, thus slowing down the rebuilding of fuel
 - bomb ammo factories, thus slowing down the rebuilding of ordinance
 - bomb grunt training facilities, thus slowing down the rebuilding of barracks
 - bomb cities, thus slowing down the rebuilding of all of the above
 - drop field supplies using C47s, thus speeding up the rebuilding of the above

WW2OL attrition is interesting, however it does have its issues. For example, you never hear the term 'griefer' in AH. Whereas 'griefers' seem to pop up all over WW2OL. For AH guys, an griefer is basically a spy from the other side who simply spawns vehicles and takes them out of the base limits, then despawns, thus attriting and using up vehicles at a base. Then theres the worst kind of griefers, they spawn an Opel and load up with infrantry (ie other players), then drive right into the guns of their mates so they can rack up easy kills (something I could imagine the FDB's being keen on).

The WW2OL attrition system also leads to a lot of 'camping' on both sides. Basically you take a crapload of tanks and park outside the spawn points. Eventually the enemy runs out of tanks, ATGs, infantry, and you can take the town with ease. Allies get the upper hand on this as their takes, albiet slower, tend to have much better armour and get one shot kills easily at close range. So 9 times out of 10 an allied assault is a column of tanks driving to the spawn point.

Having said that CRS have recognised the limitations of the system and are coming up with a new system called Brigade spawning which involves dispersed spawn points and some hierarchal system to help prevent 'griefers' (which I don't really understand but the community seems to have mixed emotions on).

I think AH2 would do well to incorporate attrition on a strategic scale, I'm not convinced yet on using at a tactical scale a la WW2OL.

The FDBs would probably only "grief" each other :)

I thought it was "Virtual Jogger 1.xx"

I'll just stick with wwporkonline

That games a pos and has been a pos since day 1. Fanbois have been coming here after every "update" saying how its improved.

All they improved was eliminating a few bugs and some small tweaks with the tired out "flag grab" gameplay. They jump to developing future vehicles with out completing the B of F. Its improved since its release but it couldnt get any worse (well it almost did when it began eating hard drives).

These current batch of fanboi comes here now and thinks hes has found a whole new crop of suckers he can peddle his snake oil to. They spew out bs like "combined arms" as if they invented it. "Well when I fly my stuka I can actually go hit ground targets"...... and we are supposed to say "wow! no ****"

Their version of the hampster wheel is no different there ours or wbs or aw or any fps. The bs "well when I fly my hurri it makes a difference on the war" tripe is so stupid you can hardly believe they kept saying it. I mean their Battle of France has been going on for 3 years just like our main arena land grab. They have a little prettier tank war and added a half assed inf model but its the same ole ****e. Except their fm and "air war" is totally ridiculous, gamey and generally "unfun".

If the game is so fun and jam packed with "10000 subscribers" then what would they care if a a few ah'rs try it out. They have thrown that 10,000 number around since pre bata. 10000 people per server, they have said 10000 subscribers a year ago when the unshaded tardcase spewed his sales pitch.

After all the welcome back sucker promotions and free trials it seems they are still at 10000. They say theres 1200 online at peak but damned if you can find more then a few here and there.

AH has about 500 or so all easily found and for the most part so is the fight.

The will tell you "well wwporkonline is a different kinda game" and you must endure several hours of boredom before you get sniped by a tank mg.

All of the ah'rs that aint tried it out go ahead and see. Its a turd and has been a turd since day 1. You will see and when youc ome back and tell us all what a turd it was the fanbois will give" it takes more then a week to get a "feel" for wwporkonline".

Any bug you see its your fault. Any suggestion for improvement they tell its otw (and has been since forever). They never take responsibilty for their crappy code and their crappy gameplay  model.
