Ladies, I think somebody has been bad and needs to be punished!

HHmmm Cop goes to a loud party call and ends up running a name through the computer. A warrant pops up. A record of the check and result it brought up is automatically made. It may even have been over the open radio whereby EVERYONE on the frequency, including the Officers supervisors, can and likely did hear it. Now the cop is going to be a "nice" guy and not make the arrest that was ORDERED by a JUDGE (you Do know about court orders don't you hortlund?????) because a person didn't have the maturity to take care of a minor infraction properly???

Yeah you're right, the Cop should have put his job and families welfare in jeapardy over this situation. After all he doesn't need the raise he might have gotten that year or even his job as much as the tard needs to be a tard.

Tronski, it refers to her driving around with an open container of alcohol in the car (think beer in hand).  Some parts of the country seem to think that the open container law means that if you open it, you have to finish it.  $11 is a pretty light fine for what amounts to a precursor to a DUI.

Now now, no need to roll your eyes at me young man.

We dont have the same system here in Sweden.

Basically there are two options if a criminal is wanted. Either he is wanted by the police. In those cases, the courts doesnt have anything to do with it. A prosecuter issues a wanted-eh-"document" (dunno how to translate that correctly). That document is processed down the chain of command to all the police units through the computer system, and "the old way"  (several very big stacks of wanted documents kept at the police station, that the cops go through whenever they have the time)

OR a person can be wanted by a court. But that is only in severe cases, like murder, brutal rapes, big drug offenders etc. I worked at a court a little over two years and we NEVER issued such a warrant. Normally we just let the police and prosecuters do their stuff, and when they are done, they come to us.

Not only that, in Sweden there is a law pretty much saying that if the punishment for the offense is no higher than fines. The officer at the scene can decide to let it slip. Or in other words, if the "crime" committed is not punishable by anything more severe than a fine, then the officer can look the other way and not report the "crime".

To me a $11 debt for some lameass BS (what exactly is an open container anyway? maybe I dont understand this because of the language barrier) sounds just like something that would have one of our cops say "well, dont do it again miss" and that would be the end of it.

And as for court orders, we kinda dont have that here either. Apparently it is common in the US that the judge can order someone to do something...like "This court orders you to repaint your house" or whatever. In Sweden the court is bound by what the parties say in the lawsuit, leaving the court basically two options, do as the plaintiff wants or do as the defendant wants, or some inbetween solution.

In a criminal case, the court is bound by the law, leaving no room whatsoever for anything other than determening guilt, and determening punishment as stated by the law. There is no "This court orders you to apologize to all your victims and then help them rebuild their house" or something like that.

Why did he run her name in the first place? I never heard of running a name as procedure for giving a noise ticket. Lol, a noise ticket for a bachelorette party, c'mon.
