What the heck is this?
« on: June 04, 2003, 10:15:19 AM »
Does anyone know what this is? A squad mate was flying the other night and spotted this.

He fired on it and got hit sprits , but nothing else. Is this a new UFO? oh and btw, G-S isn't a player name. It dosen't come up on the scoreing any way.

I think it is a gunner that has bailed out of the plane.

If he was only 41 yards from that object, it must be pretty small!

Gun Ship or Field

I've seen this on occasion.

Sometimes, when a person bails out of their craft, the game gets confused as to what graphic to use for the player.

I've seen a flaming wreckage turn into a perfectly repaired version of the plane and then later turning into a 'chute' graphic.

This has led to accusations of 'in flight repair' cheats in the past, though I've never seen such a plane graphic resume normal flight.

When  you are a gunner on a bomber,   your specific aircraft type is 'Gun Ship Observer' or something like that. The G-S would indicate this is the gunner and either their chute hasn't opened yet, or the game is confused as to what graphic to use.

My $.02

Then, again, this could be a Beta Borg Cube for AH XIII - Galactic Inferno.. to be released in, I think, 2 weeks.

i was there when jeffer saw and snaped this picture. i over flew it first. then turned on it then turned away. it was definately flying away from me, not down like a chute, or a pilot, or a gunner bail out would come down. this thing flew horizontaly.

This thing was very odd in the way that it moved. I probably was moving at about 35-40 knots and in a slow incline. I buzzed it a few times and then finally was able to slow down enough; just barley, to snap a few pictures. When I finally did shoot at this thing nothing happend at first until about 30 seconds later when I recieved a kill message on an individual who flys for the Nights. Very interesting, never seen it and thought maybe one of you have seen this before...

Thats not too bad, I was watchin a Jabo raid take off from the tower once. 6 Tiffiys in a row. Suddely one of the Tiffiys turned into a Tiger Tank as it left the ground and pulled up into formation with the others and flew away.

Felt sorry for anyone who got in front of that "Flying Tiger" at their destination.:D

Watched a flight of Ki67's land. At least the manned one landed. The rest spent 2 minutes spinning cartweels around the feild, bouncing up and down on their noses on buildings with occasional piroretts for good measure. When the manned Ki67 finally stopped, the others stopped to, standing on their noses wherever they had danced off to. (This is why Barny scares me)

Then there was the feild I spawned at where half of the guys taking off with me had red icons, the other half green icons. About 30 seconds later all of the icons changed to green. Forntunatly I didnt shoot anyone. :p

Maybe we should start a thread asking everyon to add their story's of the strangest things they have seen so far in AH....:D

I've had that happen plenty of times in the MA, when I'll come into the room and the field I'm at shows ACK, I'll grab a field gun and start blazing away...

What (I think) happens is the Roster is loaded alphabetically, not in order of who's closest to you, because the badguys that turn into good guys are usually S names through Z names.

However, you still don't do damage to them even if you hit them.

I *think* it's because THEIR client (who only has to add your one single name to the Roster) and the HOST both know that YOU are a friendly, even though you're still processing 450 Roster entries.

It is clearly a spit dweeb. And it seems that one is firing upon a bailed out buff gunner.

when a gunner is bailed out of an aircraft, by the pilot hitting bail button it is given the G-S icon. However i have no idea what that green box is.It should show a pilot figure the same as a normal bailed pilot. Maybe its a display problem with your friends graphics card driver?
