Iron Eagle was good.  I never heard my Dad cough "Bullsh*t" as often as he did....he was a Pentagon Liason for the Air Guard here.    Hell I liked what he did in that 152  :)

The Final Countdown is awesome, buzzing that yacht was great...its not on DVD yet, I check often

FireFox was pretty good, if you nod off thru the first hour and wak up in time for the flying scenes

Final Countdown wasn't even a friggin' war movie and the only A2A it showed was a 5 minute scene against a F-14 and a Zero.

I read Piece of Cake before I saw it, I found the series a little disappointing.

Who remembers Wings? The classic BBC series about WWI pilots, MAN that has to be the BEST ever. They had some beautiful replica's of WWI aircraft, and it included air-air combat with pistols and rifles.

If anyone knows where to get it sing out, as I know anyone in AH would love this series.

I can't find anything on it except this:
WINGS

BBC1 / 26x50m-e / 1977-78

Creator: Barry Thomas / Music: Alexander Faris / Producer: Peter Cregeen

Period drama series. Stories of a group of pilots in the Royal Flying Corps during World War One.

Alan Farmer....................... .............. TIM WOODWARD

Charles Gaylion...................... .......... MICHAEL COCHRANE

Richard Bravington................... ......... DAVID TROUGHTON

Captain Triggers..................... .......... NICHOLAS JONES

Michael Starling..................... .......... MICHAEL JAYES

Molly Farmer....................... ............ ANNE KRISTEN

Lorna Collins...................... ............. SARAH PORTER

Harry Farmer....................... ............ JOHN HALLAM

Kate......................... ...................... CELIA BANNERMAN

Tom.......................... ..................... REG LYE

I have it on VHS.  Great Spit footage.  I believe it was made in 1988 but Masterpiece showed it in 1991, I think.

The book is great also!

No, I meant Piece Of Cake.

Only calls it like I see it.

BTW, watched Dark Blue World and really liked it.  A couple of technical flaws but a really, really good flick.  What Pearl Harbor should have been...

Have to agree with Ack there.  It's more of a Sci-Fi (time travel) flick than air combat themed movie.  But I did like it, a really cool story idea.  "Ah hell, they're gonna let the Japs do it again!!"  LOL!!

Well boys, we got three engines out, we got more holes in us than a horse trader's mule, the radio is gone and we're leaking fuel and if we was flying any lower why we'd need sleigh bells on this thing... but we got one little budge on those Rooskies. At this height why they might harpoon us but they dang sure ain't gonna spot us on no radar screen!  slim pickens as 'major kong'

I've never heard of that series.  The only Wings movie I've heard of and seen is the old silent movie about a couple of US pilots in WWI.

Buffs:
Strategic Air Command with Jimmy Stewart. For it's day it was pretty in depth, despite being an outright recruiting film for the Air Force. Lotsa B-29, B-36 and B-47 flight footage.

By Dawn's Early Light with Powers Boothe, Rebecca De Mornay. Pretty good B-52 stuff...and of course Rebecca gets nekked!

Bombers B-52 with Rock Hudson. Yeah, Rock Hudson...but some cool LOW level actual B-52 footage....and Rock naturally excells at In-Flight Refueling...draw your own conclusions.

Fighters:
Top Gun with Tom Cruise.  C'mon admit it....you were drooling the first time you watched it.

Piece of Cake BBC Mini-Series. Excellent early WW2 reinactment.

JAG CBS Series. Yeah, most of it is CGI, but the F-14 is cool enough to overcome it when they do fly...altho I saw Harm's plane change numbers and insignia while taxiing on carrier...Hmmm
