i vote in general easy to avoid in any 1 v 1 engagement, sometimes a little harder in multi-plane engagements.

it's a valid shot, sometimes the only one a jouster may give you, so you might as well do it better than them.

having said that, those who make it their *only* tactic other than running for help/acks are pretty slobberdonkeyish.
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.

Psssst.  Don't fly head-on into another's guns.  Those things can hurt you.

It *does* actually take two to head on.

If I see an enemy comin for the HO I'll evade, every time, a mere barrel roll is enough, the important thing here is not to change direction too much until the HO has passed or your enemy will turn onto you.

If, however, I see an enemy trying to avoid my head on then I'll go for a lead shot every time.

The only time I ever get caught in a true HO pass is in the vertical.

I take all the shots I can get. Sometimes HO shots are the only ones I get from a bad situation.

The HO'er is setting himself up for an easy kill, he being on the receiving end. Evade his HO, reverse and whack him. The "lame" part is not recognizing that.

Lame.

Nothing you can do about it though except avoid em.  I just dont see the point in flying 20 minutes to get to a fight only to have it decided in 3 seconds by a 50/50 chance.  I'd rather let ability enter the equation.

[ ] lame
[ ] not lame
  • both of the above

Depends wether a Spit I tries to HO my 6-cannon 110, or a Tiffie pulls into my 109.

What I really HATE are the guys that just KEEP PULLING.  They go right at you at 2.5 and as you break off at high speed reaching d500, they JUST KEEP PULLING into your plane.

That`s a 2/3 chance of dying - either he dies, you die, or both die.

Any hints on getting out of the way of a Spit/N1K/Lala in a 110/190 ? I try to break low, but they JUST KEEP PULLING and collide...

It's a valid defense tactic when you are being attacked by an a/c with an e advantage.  I go for a head-on when I'm heavy and they try a front-quarter attack.

I think a lot of people confuse a front quarter attack with an HO, however.  To my mind, there's a big difference between a front quarter high angle deflection shot and a straight in full face HO.  The front quarter attack is low percentage for hits, but the full face HO is a dice game.
