I cant speak for everyone else, but Ive been around since earliest beta, and been a memeber for many years (just ask the wife:eek: )

I have changed my name twice, I was actually ALF way back when, then went to wiarwis after the beta was over and I couldnt remember my logon....later I opened a second acount under 2late4u on a temporary basis....that became permenent when I got a ˝ off offer in email and was told I could not transfer it to my primary account.....later still I got around to emailing HT about the option of recovering my old handle of ALF (seems they never clear the handles)....so now Im ME AGAIN.

Sir, define "older" please.  The Dickweed Heavy Bomber Group has been around for a long time.  DHBG predates Aces High.:)

I quote directly from the DHBG website (bombergroup.com)

"The DHBG is a senior squadron that has been with Aces High since beta testing.  Prior to that we were in WarBirds dating from ver.1.0.  Over the years the DHBG has maintained its stability and integrity by offering membership to those who show maturity and enjoy being team players."

The AH Con is not in Dallas this year.  Aw shucks.  An uninformed person might begin to think that non-attending “old” players from non-attending “old” squads are in some way trying to pressure HTC into bringing the Con back to Texas by their non-attendance.  The inmates trying to run the asylum.  Might work, you never know.  Personally I do not give a whiz where it is.  I like to drive,  and driving to Indy will not take any longer than driving to Dallas did.

Could it possibly be that HTC just doesn’t want to deal with the incredible headache (huge to Jordi here) of organizing and babysitting this thing in their own back yard again (so to speak)?  We will find out next year.  Maybe it will be in Canada so loser doesn't have to drive so far.

…and this new player (or squad) / old player (or squad) thing- is this sort of a “mine’s bigger” game?

cool

mine's bigger :D

This tops most whines...

A Guy (jordi) does a HUGE service by hosting a CON.   Where? in his home town.   He does this just to give to the community.   And folks complain...

Some might like it better in TX,  Some might like it better up north.
::Shrug::  Its nice to see an alternate location.

One thing, HTC doesnt have to put nearly the man hours into a CON this year and can spend them on improving AH.   Seems like a good situation.

I couldnt make TX last year,  The CON was too close in date to the Biggest Aviation event in the USA, and that was my priorty.
(nearly a million attend that one each year)

OK.. on to the whos is bigger contest....
Lets see, my squad has been around since 1994.
I flew AH Beta,  AW, and even messed around with AWDos.
Before that I flew sims on my C64,  and before that back in the mid 80s I had a online RPG character "Ace" on Qlink.
AND  (dadadadummmmm)  Im going to the CON!   ;)

Back to Jordi....,
He deserves better than complaints for hosting.  He deserves some thanks.

Thank you Jordi!

Ummmmm... enough of the "mine is bigger" stuff.  The only real insults that have been thrown around in this thread have just come from you two.

I have been looking for people willing to go to the con this year.  People that I know or recognize.  I am simply stating that point here.  No criticizm on the person throwing the party.  I haven't gone to the Aces High Con forum and spammed it with ill will about the con nor tried to undermine anything.  I have not seen anyone else doing it either.  You may want to find another way to find fault with those not attending.

This post was made in the General Discussion forum.  I am making a general observation about the subject.  Get over it.

Relax Grimm, Jordi is putting the con together, very well. MiniT is just observing the callsigns that seem familar.

Had it been in Nevada, you'd lose your angst at the Bunny Ranch, and all your money at the tables. So be thankful not to Jordi.

Well,
I dont mean to insult anyone...   maybe just a little friendly ribbing.

I was laughing about the mine is bigger thing.

The problem often with text media is your intentions are sometimes mistaken.

I still stand by the fact that we sould be Thanking Jordi for going thru the trouble to host it.   I did read some comments and took them (my interpertation) as complaints that guys that flew AW were going, and it wasnt in TX.

So MiniD..  I think you should come to the CON,  and have a laugh over a beer about it   :)

Doh!  Just saw this thread now.

Is it too late to ask for a change to my handle (for hat purposes)?

"oct" to the full version:  "octavius"

Thanks!

Hi guys
Mini D not knocking your decision not to go, but isn't the best way to get to recognise some of these new handles by attending the Con.
Personally I'm ex AW but I was not around a long time before it closed it's doors so not a great deal of people know me from either game, yes I know a few of those names on the list but I have never met any of them, so now I can hardly wait to meet these guys, no matter if they were ex AW or the newest player of AH I'll be glad to meet them.
Jordi a big for the work you have put into this and maybe a large supply of tylenol would help.
Some of the names I do know on the list I have wanted to meet for a long time, and the names I don't know, well for the next Con I will not be able to say I don't know them.
