But the basic naive premise of that argument is that if perhaps the USA disarmed of wmd then maybe the rest of the world would follow too - so in effect it's America's fault there are wmd in the world. Otherwise it makes no sense to constantly point out that somehow it's unfair Iraq is not allowed to have wmd because the USA does too, as Arfann directly implied in posting this thread, unless you are attempting to draw either a direct moral comparsion or of course a causal relationship, ie Iraq etc. are only protecting themselves from evil USA wmd and so if USA really wants to rid world of wmd it must first get rid of its own. Naturally this implies a blind faith that foreign governments and their militaries will joyfully get rid of theirs out of reciprocal goodwill, which is of course a startling concept if you think about it as the people who propse such wild ideas are those most often expressing staunch distrust and attributing all manner of devious motives to the American government and the US military.
