A little help with night and gamma adjustment

Ya Know......

All Vid cards are not created equally.  Nor are monitors or peoples eyes.  People set their monitors and cards up differently.  Shane what's to say that your settings (default) are the same as AKcurly?  I highly doubt they are.  Would one of you be gaming the game?  I think not.

I guarentee you, you could not play on my computer at night in AH.  I run a monitor brightness of 58 (default).  I also know what night looks like in a small plane, and what night looks like where I live.  I simply adjust my brightness to what I think I should be able to see.  I adjust it as night progresses and as dawn comes.

I quite like flying at night.  I adjust but I do try to maintain the intent of the SIMM.

1/2 way ground,

The purpose of having night in AH is because it's hard to see... it's usually dark at night yanno. It's a feature and it's supposed to be that way. When this feature was introduced many were thrilled. Now many are cranking up their gamma card setting to game the night. Not everyone has a card that will allow this, many don't know about it, and many have too much pride to resort to such things. When you game the night you have an unfair advantage over all these good people. That my friends is cheating. Spin and justify it all you wish, it's still cheating. You may never get busted for doing it, or never get thrown out of AH, but you are cheating none the less. I can understand some having no sense of decency or honor, but to oppenly admit to it and defend doing it takes a lot of nerve. Now watch how many will get upset at being called a cheater =o)

You know Grizzly,

You did  not read dracons comment at all or if you did then you chose to completely ignore it.

I have an ATI radeon 9000 pro card and with the default settings and my monitor ---- I cannot even see the runway as I am taxing. I am SURE that this is not the same for you because if it were  then it would surely mean that you would log off instead of flying into the ground every flight -- assuming you could get off in these conditions. So it is NOT cheating to adjust the gamma. That you would think so is very unfortunate.

Regards

P.S. You are right that people would get upset that you call this cheating, wonder if you'll be as upset if I say that you don't have a clue of what you're talking about

Stop the bickering....I'm right so listen up!

Night sucks and serves no purpose whatsoever other than to thin the player base.

I adjust gamma just so I can see the ground and water during dusk and dawn.  When it's really *night* - full moon above the horizon, sky pitch black - cranking up gamma only cranks up my map and instrument panel illumination so much that it drowns out everything else.

Dunno about Curly but I only adjust gamma to make the screen darker at night for the challenge. ;)
Here we put salt on Margaritas, not sidewalks.

I don't fly at night because I can't see where I'm going. Instead I'll grab an Osty or Ack and defend a base against those who game the night. I'm not at all upset. Oh, and I shoot as many chutes as I can  =oP
