some guy post 90% hate shane. If you are refering to me you may want to go back and read what I posted. I thought it was a rather good natured way to tell the guy there was no point in going at it with him on the BBS. Never said 90% hate him and  it was more or less a joke. He gets on my nerves on the BBS but fighting against him or with him has always been fun. Just my opinions.

Congrats on your new found love Rod

Shane has Skillz & the attitude to go with them.

Love him or hate him thats your business.

All I know is that I hate flying against him & love seeing him when I'm in deep doo doo.

He's earned the right to talk the way he does. Although I wish he would notch it back a bit now & then.

Shane and Joey

Joey: Shane! I knew you could, Shane. I knew it. I knew it just as well as anything. Was that him? Was that Wilson?
Shane: That was him. That was Wilson alright. He was fast - fast on the draw. Joey, what are you doing here?
Joey: I'm sorry, Shane.
Shane: You don't have to be. You'd better run back.
Joey: Can I ride home behind you?
Shane: Afraid not, Joey.
Joey: Please, why not?
Shane: I gotta be goin' on.
Joey: Why, Shane?
Shane: A man has to be what he is, Joey. You can't break the mold. I tried it and it didn't work for me.
Joey: We want you, Shane.
Shane: Joey, there's no living with, with a killing. There's no going back from it. Right or wrong, it's a brand, a brand that sticks. There's no going back. Now you run on home to your mother and tell her, tell her everything's alright, and there aren't any more guns in the valley.
Joey: Shane, it's bloody. You're hurt.
Shane: I'm alright, Joey. You go home to your mother and your father. And grow up to be strong and straight. And Joey, take care of them, both of them.
Joey: Yes, Shane.

Tears well up in Joey's eyes, then Shane rides off into the twilight meadow toward the distant hills framed against the sky and mountains, growing smaller and smaller in the distance. Young, anguished, and heartbroken Joey sadly calls out to his hero in one of filmdom's most famous and haunting endings, as tears streak down his face:

Pa's got things for you to do, and Mother wants you. I know she does. Shane. Shane. Come back. 'Bye, Shane ....

Joey's call echoes across the valley .... a heartbreaking moment.

Yea, I have known Shane a very long time, from the old AW days. He was always one, like myself, to use channel 1 to get people's ire up. Jousting verbally on channel 1 while taken to excess can be annoying for some, with the squelch features, each person has control over how much banter you wish to subject yourself to. While Shane and I exchange witty jabs on channel 1 from time to time. I understand him, he is a good stick who gets bored just doing the same thing over and over for ten years and needs to spice it up for himself and his adversaries.

I went to the DA with Shane once, we had a blast, he handed me my bellybutton on a hotplate in the plane of my choice. Never accused myself of being a fabulous turn-fighter by any means but I know when I am totally outclassed. If you don't like what he is saying just squelch him, but the simple fact is, he talks smack but can back it up...

PS. He must have some class too, cause even though he handed me my bellybutton in the DA he never brings that up publicly when we joust on channel 1 like alot of people would. If he asked again I'd go to DA and learn some moves, one of the few people I would accept Duel invitations from in AH.

Shane is an excellent pilot.  When my squad the Widow Makers change to the Rooks for a tour, I found myself bumping into Shane quite often, and being a victim of his skill many times.  Time to give credit where credit is due....  One time (no, not at band camp) Shane was hovering near one of my bases and we ended up going one on one many times.  Can't say as I won even one fight that time.  On ch1 I asked if Shane would do that merge move he does with no guns so I could film it.  He agreed and I boomed 'em while filming.  Then I asked if we could do it again at a slower rate of speed (hoping I could see the move better in slow motion) and again he obliged.  After getting my film, he and I did some more one on one fights and he popped me 2 out of 3 (the one time he died was being because of some b.s. excuse of course and not at all that I might be figuring out his fighting style) and I thanked him for his help and logged to watch the film.  I did a bunch of hand waggling, eventually using empty cig. boxes for airplanes and figured out what he was doing.  Logged back on and went Shane hunting.
For the time he took to let me film, and the 1 vs. 1's, I give  Shane a hearty SALUTE with much respect.

Now...
this is why he's on my dweeb list.
Shane is actually an easy kill.  Just grab alt around whatever furball he is in, let him burn his E killing 3-4 of your fellow countrymen, boom in and light him up.  He loves to dive in and mix it up and usually ends up low, slow and on the deck.  Granted, Shane is quite exceptional low, slow and on the deck, but as long as you stay fast, and know how to avoid his merges, he's a target / prey like anyone else.  Whenever I would hear Shane is at such and such base on in-country channel, I would up a nearby base and hunt.  If your any good at snap shots / deflection shots you should be able to cherry pick 'em fairly easy as he furballs.  I've gotten him several times that way (many, many assists also) and as soon as he goes boom, I like to pay attention to ch.1 for his whine.  It's never "nice shot" or "way to go, you got me" it's always some b.s. whine about why his belly button is an outie and THAT is why he died, or some other lame arse pile of drivel.  I get quite sick of hearing him whine because let's be honest here, the whole reason he died is because he blew any alt/e advantage and got caught furballing on the deck like a dweeb. (which has it's moments and is quite fun sometimes btw....)  He basically does near suicide runs, and when he dies, calls YOU the dweeb because you killed 'em.  I find it sad to berate someone on ch.1 because you were the one flying like an newbie and died.
Part of the MA is the multi layered fight you come across with nme peeps at 2k, 12k, and 20k and that's where SA comes in.  Part of the fun of fighting in the MA is knowing when to leave the fight or your in a hopeless situation and it's only a matter of time until your dead.  A pilot of Shanes caliber knows all this of course, and he chooses to fly the way he does, so he shouldn't get pissy when he get's killed doing it.
THAT's what ticks me off.  He's basically killin' himself, and blaming you for doing it.  That's the dweeb part that I see.  Don't blame somebody else because you put yourself in a bad situation.
When my squad moved back to Knights, I knew I would miss my Shane hunting parties (and shooting down members of the Damned of course) but then again, getting to shoot at the JB's again made up for it.  The JB's sure do make perty boom's when I kill 'em (heh)

Anyone is easy to kill if you cherry-pick and gang him with the assistance of friendlies.  By your own admission, 1v1 he isn't an easy kill and usually ends up the victor in your fights.  So frankly, you can't shoot him down mano y mano so you to resort flying with the horde and ganging him because you can't quite do it alone.  Now that's sad.

Sheesh... even I've killed Shane when he was busy with someone else, but I don't think it was any particular feat. I've never killed him in a fair fight though, and there's been many of those. Now I'm not saying he's the best, but he sure ain't no dweeb. (You dasn't ask me what I think about cherry pickers.)

Shane is one of those pilots you like to find out where he is at... get tons of alt... look for the La7 or pony thats vulchin the furballers... hope you have enough speed that you can get away if you miss... ohh and he doesn't see you coming. Otherwise, your usually pretty much out of luck. :)  hehe ... Shane is a PUTZ!

But a nice PUTZ!
