9700 here and alls well with zonep on, cept the lag, so obiously i keep the zonep off  (untill someone gets on my 6  :)). Then its stick flippin and on comes the zonep and kazaa!

Find the Direct3d properties for your ATI card under the advanced section, and make sure that "wait for vert sync " is off if you have that.
