That with new areas mapped for the FM then it would be natural and relativly easy to provide conditions where that section might not produce lift. A "Bit" for that section being active or not, and removed from the overall surface chord. Even if the hole is completly square, it would still be more immersive and contribute to playability. Like having a good idea how much more damage you could take.
Various colors for the degree of damage to the craft in question would suffice if we couldn't see the holes tho. We would be given the information we would normally receive in real life by looking at a wing about whether or not we wanted to dive back into the ack.
