Nah....the 100mm SU-100's gun was small (bore-wise) compared to the Sturmtiger found here

yep Su-100 based on the 31 ton T-34 chassis
not the 36 ton T-34/85 chassis

the 100MM gun could penetrate 125MM of armor at 2000 metres.

Wider turret ring, thicker(?) front armor, strengthened 2 front rollers' suspension, new gearbox (mounted on late t34-76 model though)

But does that add up to a 10,000 lb increase in weight?

The turret ring of a T-34(1943) looks to be the same size as the T-34/85.

T-34 m43 got new re-designed ''Hexagonal'' turret (Max armor 70mm) + wider mantlet and armored commander cupola was also installed , turret ring diameter was 1,42m while T-34-85 got 1,6m wide...

Yes and there was 3 styles of "hex" turrets.

Still, I would like to know where the extra 10,000 lbs came from.

Milomorai,

i don't have the exact figures on the su-100 but i believe the weight difference in chasis was only refering to a t-34 when completed as a t-34/76 or t-34/85, not a su-100
