How About Some News?
« on: July 09, 2003, 03:02:42 PM »
Someone at HTC has enough time to move treads to the appropriate forum... How about using that time to give us some news on AHII instead?

IIRC there are TWO core developers on this project, which is scheduled for Q3, which will end by 9-31-2003.  This is not EA or Ubi Soft, it`s a good handful of people developing THE GAME.

So why don`t you just STFU and fly ?

There most definately are two flocks in AH.

Flock one that loves the game and wants to remain engaged and enlightened by developement and communication of such

and

Flock two that has absolutely no desire nor obvious emotional capacity to sustain such thought above or beyond basic minimal gameplay requirements.

Unfortunately Flock Two pretty much has the run of the house
these days and the game suffers.

As for Sept 03 being the golden era of AH2 one would think the likes of Pyro, HiTech and crew could make at least a minimal effort to bring the community some minimal information regarding developement of same.  Hats off to Skuzzy for at least making token appearances, from time to time, here on this  BbS and less frequently it seems -in the game, but the content regarding the upcoming version has been non existent from anyone employed at HTC.

Just some basic fundamental token customer appreciation in the likes of an AH2 news update and/or the death of hourslong twilight and black inky darkness incognito would go a long way towards soothing leathel boredom and frustration of the game for me.

The 2003 Con is coming up shortly.  I'll bet we get some good new info out of that.

Hold your horses a couple more weeks.  If nothing is forthcoming then, well, I'll be pretty frusterated too.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that they're not sitting around on their thumbs doing nothing.  Once there's news to be had and time to post it, I'm sure that's exactly what they'll do.

Kee-Ryst!  This aint the fediddlein Manhatten project.  AH2 is a new sim.  We havent seen or heard squat about it ....nadda, nothing.

Its a real disservice to the customers.  Especially those that have been here since Sept99.  We deserve to be brought along.

These newer dorks, the onces that havent learnt to set views or guns convergence (or dont even know what BoB is) are just too new to worry about.  Its the guys that have been dedicated customers for damned near FOUR fediddleING YEARS that are getting the raw deal and being dissed here.

Either give some inspiration to stick around for a dead 9 months or expect long time customers to get pissed and start moaning.

Granted SOB, you went out on a limb.  Im just disappointed.

Flock 1 here.   Yeager's comments seem right on.

I'm starting to wonder if news about AH2 from the con is going to be worth anything at all.    I'm really surprised that HTC doesn't make more of an effort to keep the dedicated community informed.   Maybe there really is nothing to tell.   :(

I'm all for patience till the new version is released... but I do believe a little bit of news goes a long way when its been 5 months since the last real news and 8 months since the last release.

I dont know if constant "Board Pressure" caused IEN to release WB3  too early or not,
But i think it may have helped

I would think HTC wouldnt want to make the same mistake.

Cause as soon as we get a taste of screeshots, etc etc.
they we be hounded 10x worse till we get it for open beta

Take your time HTC, add a new Aircraft or Tank here and there in the current AH to keep us happy please :D

And dont do what IEN did when they got WB3 up and runnin
* Came out too early, wasnt ready
* Discontinued any support for thier original game (2.77)

i agree with cooley. lets not run down to screw one cow, lets walk down and screw the whole herd. leave htc alone in this matter of ah2, there not going to build it any faster with people proding them in the butt about it. i doubt the game we have now is going to have any adjustments or additions. what would be the point. it would be like fixing a house you are going to tear down. so children christmas is not till december 25 and htc decides when that is, so shut up and deal with it.

Not very correct. It is some information, FAQ, some interviews, some posts (for example we know they change the flight model and quite a lot about how they change it).

I am also unsatisfied with the lack of information. But I think that if they had something presentable they would show it already.

Probably graphix part of engine still is not in a good shape.

I think at the very least, HTC could update the community on how things are going with development.

Perhaps just something like a news flash that says

Good News hypothetically posted by HTC
We are nearing final development of AHII and most of the major work is completed. We still have some bugs and things to work on before we are ready to release it for beta. We know everyone wants to know when, but we cannot say until we get AHII running smoothly and reliably. We also know the customer base is really chomping at the bit to see the new release, so all we can say now is hang in there, it will be worth the wait.

Bad News hypothetically posted by HTC
Some unexpected problems in the game design have forced us to scrap a major portion of the code. The release of AHII may be pushed back because of this. We appologize to the community and know you all want to play the "new" game, but we cannot release a product that is not the quality you all deserve. Thank you for your patience and understanding whille we work on completing AHII
