Any movie with Katherine Ross is a good movie

Is that the film where a modern nuclear sub with F-14As gets transported back in time to the attack on Pearl Harbor?

Yes

Very well done too.

Good action, great flying...and after the movie is over, your mind is still trying to piece it all together

What? You expect a fighter pilot to do a cost benefit analysis? Now... that's fantasy. :D

Lets think this through....

If a Nimitz class CV somehow arrived in the vicinity of Pearl around December 7th... (transported from a routine patrol) ... could it have stopped the attack?

Could it have survived... without escorts?

Sure the f-14's -18's would eat zekes and Vals alive, but.... 300+ zekes and vals?

Would there be enough jet fuel?

Enough ordinance?

I don't know.

It is science fiction...but

It wouldn't need escorts-the attacking force was going to Pearl-not the Nimitz.

The first wave was 181 aircraft.Concentrate on the bombers-they could pretty much decimate the first wave,or at least destroy enough of the attacking force that the destruction would be on a much smaller scale then what actually happened.

There would not be a second wave-the A-6's would have sunk the carriers.

This is all fantasy of course....
