Isn't that what matters most?

The 73 455 was rated at 290 hp (but 395lbs of torque), down about 2 points in compression and 100 hp from a couple of years before.... still.... the '73 would tick off sub 14 sec quarter mile at ove 100 mph.   Not too shabby even for today.

Santa after the skydiver murder we just had in the UK where some unknown skunk cut the guys ripcord on main and safety chute, i hope you have a real good check on yours every drop.

Yeah, read about it at dropzone.com.

Apparently someone had cut the cord that deploys the main chute (?). Either he's using a student rig (not BOC) or they're saying that the bridle connecting the pilot chute with the pin and bag was severed - resulting in a no opening.

And then the same person had cut the strappings to the reserve chute. Once the reserve handle is pulled a spring loaded pilot chute will get the reserve out but it won't be attached to the rig.

It can be a whuffo who did this but it is highly unlikely. Out there in the UK is a man or woman with at least some (probably a lot) of experience with rigs who has killed someone. I wonder if it was a targeted assassination or more just the murderer wanting to kill someone.

Pre-jump checks and pin checks would have been insufficient to find the sabotage. You'd have to open the container to visually check the bridle and the strappings to the reserve are sort of hidden away. Depending on rig this can be ahrd to impossible to check without opening up the reserve.

This is scary stuff. Usually my sis and I just let our gear be in a corner somewhere. Am definitely going to be much more careful

Santa, is this race for pink slips?

I can see it now, you jump as frenchy pushes car out of jump plane.

Frenchy's car smashed but on the ground first you loose and Frenchy has you body for life. hehe may be a fun race.

LOL, definitely not for pink slips. I am thinking, oh, one month worth of Aces High.

If he wins, his car will still be smashed. Unless he coughs out serious dollars for a big parachute system :D.

Works for me either way.

Climb to 14000feet? Your everyday transportation is a Cesna?
I thought we were talking cars and bikes.

Well, I've spent more time in a Cessna than on a bike or in a car the last three months. But I guess that since my bike was stolen my primary means of transportation has been my legs or busses.

And I deliberately didn't mention that we weren't just talking cars and bikes. How else could I possibly have a chance of winning the bet? :D
