Offset gunsights in the 109 and 190 - articles?

Hey, just wondering if anyone has a link to an article about the reasoning behind offset.

Not 'can someone tell me why' - I'm aware of the basic reasoning, I'm just looking for more depth for someone who asked me the question.

As I understand it the LW felt the right eye was the dominant eye, thus the offset to the right. LW pilots, IIRC, as part of their gunnery training were also taught to close their left eye while firing.

I surely remember reading this. I want to say it was in "Heaven Next Stop". I've read so many pilot narratives they all kinda run together after a while.

Yes I believe that's true. Even in the movie BoB the germans close their left eyes when aiming.

So does that mean that all German fighter pilots had to be right-eye dominant to fly?
