The 109E has to be the toughest bird to hit (20mm) with in AH...outside about 150 its a pure crapshoot. The La-7 "twin 20mm" is a close second...the shells roll off the end of the barrel. I'd say the nikki is third...although I've been hit under g's at longer ranges (500-700) I think it's pure volume...not aim.

I think the 37mm in yak is amazingly accurate....if you remember your really firing a single shell per sight picture...had a couple of single shell snapshots at 400 or so in CT a month or so ago. flying in the CT this week I've had problems with the 190a5...probably just getting my "eye" for it back...but seems to lose punch and accuracy outside of 300 or so. Huge diffferance between tiffie (firing 2 x 20mm) and a5 with regard to range and hitting power.

I stand corrected. At 13 rnds per second it has the same ROF as the M2 Browning.

Of course when you have 6-8 M2's firing 78-104 bullets per second traveling at 890 M/Sec as opposed to 26 bullets per second traveling at 750 M/Sec, there is a lot less space for those spittys to squirt through.

Perception wise I rate the effectiveness of 20mm canons in AH like this:

1. Hispanos
2. Mg 151
3. Type 99-2
4. ShVak
5. MgFF

I don't know what the hardest guns are but the easiest one is the P-38. You can't get anymore Quake like than the Lightning, just point and click and watch the target go BOOM!

I remember once on an ill-advised rope... AKAK's 38 made my pony(target) go boom.

I feel for the luftwobbles and their poor cannon performance. I love the d9 but I have to admit, the U.S. .50's are lazers.

Yes, the 50s strength is how numerous they are. Still prefer the Shvaks though - it's much more satisfying to nail someone with a close range blast with those than anything else.

I like hispanos too.

I think the .50's strength, and the hispano's as well, is the remarkable ballistics. I can kill with 4 .50's about as well as 6.
If the la7 had decent guns, it truly would approach uber.

40mm on the Hurricane II-D. You don't have enough rounds to play around with to fire and correct. You are either going to destroy any enemy with 1 shot or miss.
