Everyone seems to be only talking about Saturday, but only Rounds 3 and 4 are on Saturday.  Do you all realise that it is the best of 5 rounds, played over 3 days?  Rounds 1 and 2 here in AH on Friday August 1, 2200 Eastern.  Rounds 3 and 4 on Saturday August 2 are in WB, and the final Round 5 is at 1500 Eastern here in AH on Sunday.  Saturday's time may have been changed from 2200 Eastern, but that is only 2 rounds..... Hope we are all on the same page here.  :)

In case anyone hasn't seen it, here is a copy of paste of Daddy's post giving the details in the WB forums:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Gentlemen of AH vrs the Gents of WBs...duel
The challenge has been set and well received by the player base of AH. This duel will be the first inter-sim duel

This duel has nothing to do with the IeN or HTC, and is purely driven by the players of each community. Thus, enjoyment and having a positive experience is the most important aspect of this event.

The participants of this duel can easily setup an account in either AH or WB. It is the responsibility of each person to handle their own accounts.

At first I felt that it would be unfair of AH folks (X-Warbirders) to participate simply because they are familiar with both games, where as most of the Warbird players are not familiar with AH. Even though this may be the case, it's not like we are getting paid or this is the World Series, so perhaps we should just allow AH members to make this call. Either way is OK with me. As long as we all have fun, then everything else is trivial. Lets agree to let the AH folks determine this issue.

Turo has volunteered to be the mediator and for that we are thankful. Any issues will be resolved by him.
Each round should have two other referees(hosts). One per side to help answer questions and ensure that the rules are being followed. Would be best if CMs could volunteer their time to work with us.

Best 3 out of 5 Rounds
Rounds 1,2, and 5 are in AH
Rounds 3 and 4 in WBs.

Round 1 & 2
Friday August 1 10pm EDT
AH Arena (TBD)
10 players from each side (suggest we prepare alternates in case of no-shows)
15k Airstart
15k Merge Alt
Prior to Merge All ac must be within D45(wbs scale) of it's team captain. This ensures a proper merge.
Fuel for AH (TBD?)
Fight is active til last man
Discos can not replane
Planes??(TBD) We need to use consistent planes that both Warbirds and AH offers. It's going to be difficult enough to learn a new game and adding a new a/c type makes this even more difficult. I think it is best if the 2 sides had the exact same a/c. For example 4 p51B/D, 4 Spitfire IX, and 4 190D? Thoughts?

Round 3 and 4
Saturday August 2 10pm EDT
WBs, TA

Round 5
Sunday 3pm EDT
AH

Special thanks to Kieren for being the AH Ambassador and doing so as a gentlemen in good faith.

Cheers

Yo! Hold the phone!! :D

When I said I'd be a reserve if there's no room, I meant that I'd be a reserve if there's no room. :) It was in case I missed another thread somewhere (I barely read the General Discussion forum) where ya already had 8 guys signed up, then I'd be fine with a reserve spot. But if *this* is it and the teams weren't yet full, then please sign me up for the real thing. I'm 4th to raise my hand in this thread... is that good 'nuff for being put on the main list?

Edit: Deleted the rest of the post. Just noticed that the fight is next week. Definitley not enough time for what I had in mind.

Can I make a suggestion? (Do I understand correctly that Turro is overseeing the event?)

Here goes....

The event is scheduled for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd, and I think the time frame is a bit on the ambitious side...

Off the top of my head, that gives us about 5 days to:

Sort out the teams

Get everyone's accounts comped and set up by HTC and Ien

Download and install the game (WB's if yer an AHer, and visa versa)

Get our sticks set up

Become at least somewhat familiar with the games (eg. the interface for navigating to the proper arenas, loading out the planes, moving to the correct fields etc. Some of us are clueless)

Get the Refs on board and scheduled

Get the arenas squared away (eg. arranging with the CT team in AH (if in that arena); taking care of any terrain issues)

Decide on the planes, finalize the format and rules

Get the team prepared, if desired (practises or tactics discussions/creation)

Give everyone involved enough notice (event runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday... people might need more time to arrange for this)

.............. You can take the guy out of the CM world, but you can't take the CM out of the guy.... Or something like that. :) As a former one, I know 1st hand how complicated even the most simple seeming events can be. I may be leaving some things off the list above, but everything on it will need to be done (with the exception of practises perhaps).

So finally, my suggestion. How about moving it back 1 week, and running it on the 8th, 9th & 10th?

Respectfully.
