There were some good bridges on the Niemen map. I forget who made that, though. IIRC, it was made with runways or roads that were positioned in the air, and the pylons were stuck in the water to look like piers. Most of the bridges on this map actually worked. None of my own attempts have been successful.
It seems to me that the whole trick to building bridges over water tiles is crossing the grid lines on both sides of the water tile. The bridge as a whole as to go from a point on land on 1 side, over the water, and onto land on the other side. But because objects can't cross grid lines, you have to break the roadway up into sections and position them very carefully right at the grid line but not on it. I've never gotten this to work right. When I avoid the grid lines, I have a tiny gap and vehicles fall through it even though it's only a few inches wide at their scale.
