I WANT to Vote for Democrats too..
« on: July 30, 2003, 03:58:18 AM »
Im on the side of "choice" for abortion, I find merit in some unions, namely craft and class, and I don't hinge my opinions soley on religion belief. I don't even like the economy or understand fully the economic relief tax cuts are making in the big picture. I still support Bush in the Iraq war, and think Gore could never have handled the 9/11 crisis. Hell, very few past Presidents could have impressed me as much as GWB during the aftermath of 9/11. Still, I'd welcome a change.

But what in the hell is with these 2 tools, D- NY D-NJ?

 Hide your Estes Rockets

Do you mean to tell me there all elected officials that believe this?

I invite the argument that terrorists are going to grab a upperhand unless we regulate hobbies out of business. Unbelievable.

A good way to remember is...Elephants crowd you out of the way (Republicans) and Donkeys are just plain tulips (Democrats)

Incidently, since you do not even know this,...your comment on any American politics is worth the lint in my pockets.

Any group of politicians who think Mr Tony Blair is worth 17 or was it 19 standing ovations have either been playing too much football without a helmet, haven't read the label on their meds or alzheimer's has struck early.

Before you rush out and try to cash in on all that lint you carry around perhaps you should check out the meaning of irony.

Irony indeed.

In American politics, a standing ovation doesnt mean you agree, it means youre being polite and waiting for your turn to shoot back.

So much for that argument, eh?

Women are only useful for a very specific kind of fun.  And between the unshaven granola munchers and the old hags like Feinstein, there's not much of that kind of fun to be had with the DNC.

the democratic party deffinatly has it's problems, and I'm not exactly sure how to fix them.  it used to represent working men and family farmers.  the problem is while we where at work the only ones who had the time to be politicly active where the housewives, college students, and welfare recipients.

your average democrat is still the everyday working american. I've been a democrat since I was 19.  and even though I started out my adult life (3 days after highschool) with a new wife, a kid on the way, and thanks to some unfortunate medical problems for the wiife and new baby, by the end of the first year I was taking home $112.oo a week and had a $40k debt.

contrary to what most republicans would have you think of your average democrat, I did not take the 'easy' way out and abort my kid to duck my responsability.  he's my son I brought him into this mess, I stuck around, payed the bills, and since free-time was very short working 60-90 hrs a week, dropped most all my friends so I could devote all my free time to being a father and husband.

most democrats never draw a welfare check,  inspite of the problems I faced I never drew a welfare check in my life.  my kids have never missed a meal. I on the other hand have put in a few 90 hr weeks with no food(other than my work partner noticing on the 5th or 6th day that he never sees me eat that week,  and has his wife pack an extra sandwich,  thanks again Joey and Deb.)

we know how to make sacrifices without crying for help.  from the years 85-92 I bought no clothes for myself except work clothes.  only the ocasional nice new shirt, and new pair of jeans that where suitable for a funeral.  the next day they became work clothes.

I believe if our party hadn't screwed up and taken the wrong side of the abortion issue the republicans wouldn't be able to get elected to save their lives (there are some other handsomehunk stances on issues but that's the big one that screwed us).  that single handedly alienated most of Christian America, costing us the suport of the non-corprate farmer and many of our own working class.

abortion is the only issue I see where the republican platform aligns with Christian belief, but it is a damn huge issue.

republicans aren't much on forgiveness, consern for your fellow man, and taking care of the unfortunate. the cornerstones of the Christian faith.  but with that one stupid issue we screwed our selves and the american economy by letting republican economic policy come to power.

republicans have the assignine idea that if you can somehow get more money into the hands of the rich and powerful they will magically share it around and it will 'trickle down' to the poor.

where in fact history has taught us over and over again that the rich are much more likely to use this money to buy politician (there have beeen many recient studys that prove that politician, almost without fail, vote the way their highest contributers want) to influence public policy and law in a way that will get them more power, so they can get more money, to buy more votes, to get more money , to buy more votes,......

menawhile the rest of us are like the players in the last 15 minutes of a game of monopoly, just waiting land on Boardwalk and get wiped out.

I agree hard work is the key to sucess, I've worked hard all my life,  it just paid off alot better when democrats ran the show.

I've been voting for neither big party... and since our state is so small and some folks seem to vote more on name recognition than anything else, a vote for other than demo or repub hasn't really amounted to much.

When I was in high school about 10 -11 years ago, one of the annual activities for the Physics classes was to get students to buy an Estes rocket kit, put it together and then on one day take a field trip down to a park and have a day of launching model rockets.  That was a great activity, we had lots of fun watching the ones with the long burn motors disappear into the sky, and even more fun watching the ones that literally fizzled and popped on the launch rod (didn't glue the engine mount in good).  I don't think they do that anymore, which is just sad.  I wonder if the elementary school kids here even go to camp or drown proofing class anymore...

im going to go with kerry. vietnam vet, smart guy, voted for the war based on the reason that saddam was a bad man.

but just like the republican party the democrats have extremists in their barrel of monkeys as well. so you will get nutcases trying to put bans on hobey rocket engines, just like you get republicans that try to make a terrorist futures market(wtf!?).
