why didn't they use them? mig 25 if im remebering right can fly at like mach 3 that is as fast as our missles are good thing he didn't use them us air force would have lost more ppl

A Mig 25 shot down an F-18 in the first gulf war, and since it's faster then any other fighter in service, it booked out of there at like mach 2.5 or mach 3.

It's also thought of as the 'poor mans SR-71' because it has been used for high speed reconaissance runs over Isreal (clocked at over Mach 3). The story I heard is that the engines need to be replaced afterwards, but it's still cheaper then having a dedicated fleet of high speed recon planes.

Oh, one other thing, despite being to fast, it probably would not have been a super weapon against the US. It's a cool plane, but the US radar/surveillance technology is so dang advanced and comprehensive (full time AWACs in battle, advanced long range detection, etc) that this time around it would be difficult to get in range.

Actually, love muffin, the point was that we ousted a murderous dictator and his derranged sons. That was a good thing, IMO, and I don't give two flying f*cks about the reason we went in there in the first place. It is costing us in US lives and US money which is terrible, but I believe in the cause...liberating the people of Iraq. You can babble all day long about oil, but you said it, not me.

According to a website I just found with google, yeah. That's pretty interesting, I wonder if that statement is still true. Modern ECM is pretty powerful, I hear.
