Outbacks coconut shrimp are great, though IMO they over-spice the beef and hide all the flavor.

Pigs are pretty intelligent creatures, smarter than cats and some dogs.

If I do have to eat meat, I stick to the less intelligent animals, chicken, fish, crustaceans/bivalves.

Man... great reality TV potential there. Pigs vs Cattle in "Slaughterhouse Feud!" Losing team gets it in the neck.

You could be on to something big! Bivalves vs Crustaceans is going to be tough though.. how do you check a bivalve's intelligence?

Well clams dont have brains, so they probably don't feel pain.

And believe it or not, dolphins aren't 'fishes'. They are eutheran mammals (like us )

So, when the pigs whip the cattle big time, then the dolphins can take on the pigs next with wombats and duck-billed platypus fighting it out to take on the winner?

We could make big money with this show. Especially if we film the audience scarfing up the losers after each round.......

you do know that cats are over 10x more "intelligent" than dogs in scientific studies.... at least i hope you did.

so then where are pigs you ask? well if you believe TV the discovery channel had a show about a year ago showing dogs then pigs then cats on a "scale" of intelligence and it was like

What "studies"? That sounds pretty bogus to me.

But dolphins, pigs, dogs, and cats are all very conscious and aware of their surroundings. They all have at least a 50 word vocabulary and can be trained to interact with humans. Not only that, but they are all predators, and it is very inefficient to eat predators (pigs can be fed grain however).

Animals that feed off of plants and algae are more numerous and usually have a less developed nervous system.

I'd think it would be more ethical to eat a clam than KoKo the sign-languaging gorilla.

Probably not, from the clam's point of view.

I do like cats however. Sweet and Sour Siamese is one of my very favorites! General Tso's Tabby is right up there though and who can ever pass up a steaming plate of Crispy Szechuan Sphynx? The hairless Sphynx is perfect in this dish!

Apparently we wouldn't have evolved such big brains if our cave dwelling cousins hadn't started eating meat, from a nutritional point of view.

Just to add to the debate, sharks are considered x30 more intelligent than cats, or put another way, x50 times more intelligent than David Beckham/Posh Spice combined.

I think it is a scewed study.

I mean cats sit around and 'put on aires', and act smart. which may well have impressed the 'intelectual' types who do these types of studies ( who also sit around and say they are smarter but don't actually produce a useful product or anything where they might accidentily look dumb, or 'let the cat out of the bag', so to speak).

while dogs on the other hand actually do more useful stuff, at the risk of occasionally looking stupid.

I mean it's not hard to make a good dog look dumb. you act like you throw the stick, and the dog runs off and tries his best to go get it for you, and ends up looking dumb when he realizes you haven't thrown it.

while the cat looks smarter by not falling for it. some might say he sees through the act. while I tend to think he wasn't nescasarily 'not fooled' so much as not gonna get his lazy bellybutton up even if you had realy thrown the stick.

you do have to give cats this though. thay are smart enough to trick some humans into providing them with food, shelter, and medical attention ( while the humans wait on them hand and foot). all this while the most usefull thing they ever did was kill small vermin (which breaks down to basicaly getting their own meal every once in a great while)

A measure of social development is the ability to form social groups. Cats never managed this apart from lions. Dogs, on the other hand, naturally form social groupings.
