Wish I could Thunder! Just finished (almost, waiting for in cowl muffler to come in the mail but it'll fly with out it for now) a Pica 1/12 Corsair, and been waiting for the wind to die down to fly it! If it survives the first few flights I'll put some markings on it!

Here's a crappy pic, gotta lean how to use the digital camera better...

Great picture!!!! HiTech has a "Super Hots" & a Corsair too. I am just starting in the hobby and just have a trainer and a "Zagi". I am looking at starting a new model soon so it will be ready when I get comfortable with my trainer. I just solo'd and HiTech was my instructor. Here are a couple of pictures just prior to my Avistars first flight.

My "Zagi 300" with my Aces High Squadron Logo on it!

The "Dickweed Heavy Bomber Group" Logo on my trainers Tail.

"HiTech" running up the engine before first flight

"Thunder" holds up to check the engine in verticle before flight

"HiTech" at the controls and "Thunder" by the plane prior to first flight.

If there are any others out there that have pictures of one of you R/C's put it in.. I'd love to see them!

Salute

Nice!!! Sounds like it will be a blast. I've always wanted to fly RC aircraft. Never had the time or the funds. Someday  :)

Hmmm,

Did I mention HiTech doesn't crash his planes but he manages to crash fairly often? NoBaddy and I can attest to that.

Not to make you nervous or anything Thunder <eg>.

Cool Thunder! Wish I had got some pics of the Hobbico Twin Trainer I was flying earlier this summer, but I didn't  :(. The fifth day I flew it, about the 10 or 11th flight I lost sight of it's attitude while setting up for a landing and augered it in  :(. Nothing like the sound of two engines, was fun to fly, even had and engine quit (the right one even) while doing touch n go's about 10 feet up, but recovered it some how and flew it around to land, looked cool taxiing back with only one prop turning.

Had a Thunder Tiger Lazy Tiger P51 after that but got bored with it and traded it for the Corsair above. I'm also building an old Royal P38 with a 74" wingspan, but it's gonna have all the bells and whistles and will take me until next summer to be able to afford all the gizmo's and get it built. Will get some pics of it up someday when there's somthing more to show of it, it's just framed up right now.

You guys have fun and don't auger any!

Wow, didn't know many people here flew RC planes.  I have a Goldberg Ultimate that I have been flying for a few years.  I really need to find the time to get back into it.

Thunder!

where'd you get your squadron stickers? how did you make them (if you did it)? details please if you can.

Also, the combat wings (Zagi), fly down here in austin on a hill near my house. I've been wanting to try it out....any suggestions? (motorized or gliders, i like them both.)

Mason22,

Answer: I made them from scratch, the following is a discription of what I did. If I can help further you can email me at sjthornton@home.com

This is a copy of the completed artwork for my squadron logo that I made on Photoshop 6.0

Steps are as follows
  • Create Image in a graphics program.
  • Adjust size that you want and print it on a color printer using a high quality glossy photo paper.
  • Take a sharp "Exacto Knife" and cut the trace line of the image.
  • remove the image and put it to the side.
  • now place the 8.5x11 sheet with the cut out area and possition it where you want to place your decal. (ie.the wing or tail)
  • lightly spray some 3M Super77 Spray Adhesive (get this at a good hobby shop) where you are to place the decal . The 8.5x11 acts as the shield for overspray.
  • now turn over the decal and lightly spray adhesive on the back side.
  • let these get tacky... about 4 to 5 min.
  • then apply the decal precisly over the tacky area.
  • Last step is to get a clear self adhesive 9x12 laminating sheet (Avery 461253 73601-Office Max or Office Depot) or similar product.
  • I now take the 8.5x11 sheet I used for the shield and place the clear laminating sheet over it. I trace cut about 1/2" outside of the line I cut out for the decal.
  • get the laminating cut out and peel off back
  • possition it and place it over the decal so it is centered. This protects the decal from fuel.

I hope my directions are understandable     :)email me if I you need help with an image or clarifictaion on proceedure.

Salute

Just in case you are wondering:  None of you really are worthy.  However, donations of no less than $50 will slightly enhance your sub-worthy status.  As Drex's CO I am in charge of collecting donations so fork it over.  Cash only -- no way we would accept a check from any of you worms!

Top Flite Corsair with O.S. 0.90 4-stroke, 12 lbs, graupner 12.5 x 7 prop.  It's now flying with a 1.20 4-stroke and an APC 13.8 x 10 4-blade prop...does about 120 mph!

A Typhoon, 24 lbs, Quadra 50cc, zinger 22 x 8-14 prop.  Very realistic looking at 70 mph.

B-24 from Palmer Plans, 110" wingspan, 28 lbs, 4 OS 0.52 4-strokes.
