Amazing, absolutely oustanding.  Fuel was porked 4 bases back.  GREAT JOB!  Keep it up guys, the fuel bunkers quiver in terror whenever "suicide tiffie IB at 15k" comes over Ch 2.

We were cleaning up the crash site where Rude's last ride drilled a hole and we found this tattered and paritally burnt set of lyrics under his ruined seat cushion.

In tearful memory, the squad decided it should be posted here. We're only sorry that, due to BBS restrictions, is the accompanying music which  you all would recognize as "The Ballad of the Green Berets", cannot play as you read this.

We're thinking of getting Barry Sadler out of retirement to sing this at the memorial service.........

I don't like finding fuel down to 25% at these bases close to the action. It limits the plane I can take.  But I do find some irony in this as it worsens the scenario for those who are an outhouse's "worst nightmare" by ensuring that all the enemy aircraft they now face are almost all P-51's.

Yep... never could figure out how "%" was fair... 50% for 51 is 125 gallons and like 40 for the eurotrash fighters... 50% for a pee 51 is enough fuel to bore even the most timid strat guy to death before he runs dry.

I wouldn't dream of limiting anyone's fun.  Apparently the vast majority of the playerbase feels it is loads more fun to fight field ack and fuel tanks than other players.. what I'm still puzzling out is why they pay $15 a month to play with other people when they basically just want to be left alone.

It aint much of a mishun if just 1 guy is in it. For $14.99 you fly all the mishuns you can handle.

Maybe I'm about to step out of line here.

Maybe I'm not.

Maybe I am reading into this too far

Maybe I'm not.

I just want to say,....

If the fuel wasn't a factor, it wouldn't be made into a destroyable object.

Do you people need a kleenex or do you all own stock in the company?

Granted suicide attacks are lame. SOME pile-lets, just compress themselves into the ground, I've done it a lot myself.

But this petty whinning about destroyed fuel must be a personal issue.

IT"S PART OF THE TERRAIN AND GAME

Porking fuel is a strategic tactic, no less then the hangars or field guns. Good god it was one of the first targets ever hit in war. "Oh wait, we should not have done that, they can't attack us and kill us now, how unfair"

Should I start whinning because someone porked the last hangar or Vehicle base.

Is it going to come down to everyone will whine each time a purposely placed strat object that is placed in the game FOR THAT PURPOSE, is hit.

This isn't Pong folks.

SO in essence, what the common whine is about is "DO NOT detroy any ground objects because someone might have to move to another base, BECAUSE THEY ARE GETTING THEIR ARS handed to them?

Ya know what?, If fuel wasn't a historical target, it wouldn't have been placed in the game.

I really can't understand the worthless whines I've been hearing about fuel porkage.

Deal with it, it's a strategic target. period.

AHers want realism until it effects their fun, then they step bacxkwards.

dunno about you guys, kinda embarrassed for yas.

LIMITING FUN>???? is that an actual reason for the whine, or is it you just couldn't come up with anything less pathedic. Whose trying to limit whos fun, the guy whining or the guy bombing>?

Don't shoot this guy either, it will ruin his fun. Anything else we can do to insure you have fun for $15 a month. Maybe we'll all just sit still and let you kill us all and not shoot back.

There is always skeet shooting.

Perhaps, maybe, you might think of protecting your important targets at home. You know the ones, they limit your ability to have 100% of anything like fuel. Or maybe your just want to furball. You chose.

I just love these whines. You want some cheese with that whine?

Animal, the discussion has evolved into shorthand to some degree. What most are saying when they mention the fuel porking is that there is a huge imbalance in the porking and resupply of fuel.

Yeah, it's a tactical and strategic target. However, as currently programmed, one guy with an ord packing fighter can swoop into a small field and in 3-4 passes knock the fuel down to 25%. This level does limit the aircraft with smaller fuel tanks or bad fuel economy, particularly on the maps with fields mostly more than a sector apart.

Now, in order to bring the fuel back UP 25%, making it 50% at the field, it takes (IIRC) SEVEN resupply sorties in a goon. Given a goon's speed, you're talking about a 10-15 minute sortie here. So let's say it takes more than an hour or more of "player flight time" to repair what one guy in a heavy fighter can do in maybe 15 minutes or so.

So even if you've got a few guys willing to spend their whole night resupplying fuel, they can't keep up with the damage just one guy can do to fuel.

Just a balance problem, easily addressed I would think. Just lower the number of resupply sorties required to bring the fuel up 25%. I'd say 2-3 would be reasonable. You can get two guys to take 15 minutes out of their play time to resupply and get a field viable again.

But an hour or more of flying? Too much.

Thanks for the time to explain the actual probem to me Toad.
I don't pay attension to these boards much.

So the whinning is misdirected. It should be directed to HT not players.

You just posted to one player who was unaware, I simply play the game for fun. SO there are prolly many in the game as ignorant as myself to the situation.

The whine should really be directed to HT tho, not players.

HEY, if we are in a street fight, and you become a big threat to my survival, my foot is going to make contact with your balls, and anything else I can do to bring you down. If goring your eyes out works then so be it.

So in *MY* opinion, the problem is the settings, not the players.

You did make a valuable point though ;-)

It doesn't bother me, but I understand why it does some people.  I think it's mostly because death means nothing in this game.  When these people strat fuel/radar/barracks, they often don't even attempt to fly back to base.  That would take to long.  They crash, then go back to what they were doing.  It isn't the stratting, it's the suiciding that ticks people off.  Most of the players that actually get into the spirit of the game don't like suiciding regardless of the target.

I don't really see a way around this, though.  Any of the options I can think of to make this work would cause more heartache than the original problem.

7 goons would bring the fuel back to 125%. resupps affect each destroyed structure, ie, each fuel tank. when supps take effect, all fuel tanks are affected, bringing them all up at the same time.
